anyone have any good things to say about these cheap chinese android tv box'es than can be bought on gumtree and the like for £40-100 ? with supposedly lots of tv n movie chanels for free etc

All depends if your ISP blocks certain sites, i.e. Virgin block Icefilms ect. but they work of a sort if you dont mind a bit of faffing about finding working streams.

Picture quality isnt great on certain streams and buffering is quite common. Cheaper way of running XBMC is via a Raspbery Pi if you have an old USB phone charger and SD card knocking about.

Obviously, these channels don't have permission to show films for free. Even if they did work now, the channels would likely get closed down in the near future.

That's what I did and it works great (I also have XBMC on my phone, Tablet and PC and with a VPN you don't have any probs-
with iceFilms etc.

Stupidly Virgin only block the ipv4 address and not the ipv6 address so Icefilms working OK, have you any recommendations on free VPN's that actually work?

I pay for mine I use privateinternetaccess. Its cheap simple and does the job
