I think it's safe to say that generally it's a mutual agreement that tonight's episode was fantastic

Do you think the 30th anniversary episodes will be as good?

I'd like to think they will be, but it's going to be hard to top the dramatic and emotional impact of tonight's episode

Tonight was very good but it could have been better in my opinion. The Nick vs Mitchell storyline seems a bit forced but it makes great viewing! I think if the 30th anniversary is planned and executed well it can easily beat tonight, as long as it has lots of promotion! I think EastEnders could go back to a bad place if the 30th anniversary is a flop but I'm sure DTC will pull it out of the bag!

After tonight I'm really looking forward to the 30th, they've got some good stuff building up, with the murder reveal, the Mitchells v Cottons, the continuation of the Carter reveal and the exits of Stan, Peter and Lauren. The next 2 months look pretty big.

Nick is always a pleasure to watch in my opinion. I know he's a bit camp and a bit shit, but he is genuinely a total scumbag ('thieving junkie' to quote Phil) and you can't really put anything past him. He's killed before, and I suspect he will again. I just have a sneaking feeling he is going to murder someone before he's killed off in February (which isn't confirmed, but I am fairly certain that's the plan). I always smile during any of his scenes.

Phil has never liked Nick, even going back to the 90s, but nor is Nick really scared of Phil. It's not so much a 'forced' rivalry in that Phil doesn't seem particularly bothered about Nick being around, but other characters' decisions (primarily Ronnie) have kind of forced his hand.

There aren't many people Phil has had a genuine rivalry with who are still alive. Dan Sullivan perhaps, in that he is one of the few people to have actually got one over on Phil, but I can't imagine they'd bring him back.

The Ronnie vs. Nick setup is odd in a sense, but then again Ronnie was around last time Nick was, and she'll know about him from other characters anyway. It's understandable not wanting him around if she's going to give birth to his grandson, but wanting to have him killed certainly feels a bit contrived.

Still, that baby has the makings of a classic character. The grandson of Archie Mitchell and Nick Cotton? If EE is still around in twenty years, they'll be one to watch.
