signal strength is different, speed is a different thing, you could be at the same mast with identical signal on EE and Three but could get 20Mbps on Three but only 5Mbps on EE.

Using my free 100GB EE sim I notice I get much better speeds on Three 3G compared to EE but on the nearest mast which has both EE4G and Three 4G enabled EE wins.

I will certainly stick with 3's PAYG All In One 15 package while AYCE data that it offers remains.

No need for me to use anyone else at present.

Well, I wouldn't go with either, due to experance. I had a 6 month court battle with EE who's website have full coverage at my home address. I couldn't even send a text, I tried Three, got signal for about 20 mins, 10 mins no sig, back for a bit, calls dropping the works, the have less 4g coverage as well. The best I've found to be Vodafone.

Vodafone are bloody awful for data in rural areas, it has to be EE or one of their sharing networks I'm afraid.

That will be spectrum. EE has double the spectrum assets of Three.

However I'm surprised at the 3G differences using your Dan&Phil SIM. In three locations in the UK I found Three to give only 1.0 to 1.5mbps - and my EE contract, and my EE Dan&Phil were able to deliver 6mbps or more. 4G in two locations was over 30mbps on EE and only one location had Three 4G which maxed out at 18mbps.

I will be leaving Three next month because of a £6 charge from a pop-up I got while browsing the net using my One Plan, Three said there is nothing they can do to stop it happening again! This was a pop-up I closed down straight away...

I am thinking of joining T-Mobile (think this is still EE) as they are offering 6 months unlimited browsing for £20, just need to text 6MONTHWEB to 441, this is subject to a fair use policy of 1gb per month, but even if you go over this they don't charge you just limit your bandwidth I think.

Although after what happened on Three I am not sure I ever want to browse the net again using a mobile service provider...
