Since you decided to go there, I'd say that what's wrong with our society, and which arouses disgust in a lot of people, is our insistence on squandering our money on tat and even going as far as to claim that the tat is actually "important" in some way and attempting to hold it in esteem.
And, of course, the other side of that coin is the companies who continue to produce the tat and hawk it to a gullible audience, which DeAgostini is a prime example of. I'm sorry you don't see the importance of this kit. Seeing as it is a first in a history of model building to do so. Unlike of course the latest $500 iPhone 6 which is still trying to play catch up with everyone else in the industry. Lagging behind brands such as Samsung which offer a much more powerful product at half the cost. So let's talk about this some more. You're gonna sit there and tell me that Star Wars had no significance in our history or culture today? Again, it shows your ignorance and of course speaking up without knowing the facts behind what it is you are talking about. Let me school you a bit here and perhaps you might actually learn to think before speaking AGAIN! 1) Star Wars changed the way movies have been made since it was filmed in 75. 2) If it wasn't for Star Wars every movie you see today would have the credits rolling in before the movie began. 3) The filming breakthrus that were developed in Star Wars by Lucas and his team paved the way for just about every special effect we see on screen today including the use of Green/Blue screen technologies. 4) CGI animation is actually just the final product of what John Dykstra created for use in the Star Wars films a technique called Go-Motion. In which he developed a computer controlled camera that could be programmed to move the exact same way every time. This camera is called the Dykstra flex camera and is still in use today. 5) Since all the effects were developed "in camera" it broke ground in the ways we learned how to control film and paved the way to new techniques in handling footage that we still use today. 6) Because of Star Wars (actually a team of directors that included Lucas and Spielburg) you are able to make copies of your movies for your own use without fear of breaking some copyright violation. The Fair Use act assured this as well as the ability for film makers to make anything they wanted in any fashion they wanted without fear of reprisal from the studios or have to bend to studio rules and regulations. So, yes... Star Wars was actually quite influential in history. What can you say about Raybans, Nike, and DG! Not much of anything actually other then they might make you look good at the beach, keep your feet from getting wet when you go outside or help you carry your personal effects when you go shopping. But wait... I can do the same thing with a much less expensive option from a thrift store and they do the exact same thing. I can do this all day... are you sure you wanna ride this train? |

So basically you're saying that I'm wrong for wanting or spending my own money anyway I want. Even thou you can go out and spend your money on what you think isn't frivolous to you, would be to me. You'll go out and buy $1000 Raybans and spend hundreds on Dolce and Gabana, have to keep up with the latest Nike sneakers just because Michael Jordon or some other over paid athelete endorses them to line their own pockets and then you're gonna turn around and tell me that I'm being silly or I'm saying things that try to make it sound more important than it actually is?

You offered an opinion on why "our" society was going downhill and I offered one too. Rather than doing this all day, perhaps it'd be more rewarding to spread your wings and venture out into other aspects of DS?

Keep digging SC, it's most amusing the lengths you will go too to prove yourself the Alpha male.

I truly hope I haven't offended anyone... if I have I apologize. I may be new on this forum but I've been online since the web began in the 90's. I'm an active member of many fan based and hobby based forums and always try to be helpful and courteous whenever possible. I guess I'm just a passionate kinda guy! But I do have a pretty good sense of humor as well and will always interject a piece of wisdom whenever possible. SC, I do hope you don't feel as if I was attacking you. I love a good debate, and as you can see am pretty good at it. I'm sure if we were on the same side of an issue we'd be a force to be reckoned with!
