2005 is now 10 years old. 1995 is now 20 years old. 1985 is now 30 years old! I won't go on

Pick one favourite song from each of the years below, and say what decade out of these you like best and maybe why.

I wouldn't say any of these years are up there with the best the decade has to offer musical-wise, with the exception of 1995 which was bloody brilliant 24/7.

My picks:

1955: 'Earth Angel' by the Crew Cuts as one of only about three songs I recognise that entire year!

1965: The Righteous Brothers - You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, classic ballad.

1975: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody for reasons too discussed millions of times around the world to go into here - overplayed perhaps but utterly brilliant.

1985: Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls, the big breakthrough single from my favourite group.

1995: Pulp - Common People, a year of absolutely hundreds of amazing tracks but this is up there with my ultimate faves.

2005: Pendulum - Slam, the best track from one of the best albums of the noughties.

Perhaps too early for 2015 but hopefully amongst all the dross there'll be some epic stuff around.

1955 - Love and Marriage, Frank Sinatra. It's the only song I am familiar with as it was the theme tune to my favourite TV programme, Married With Children.

1965 - Californian Girls, The Beach Boys. One of my favourite songs from this era.

1975 - Young American, David Bowie. Don't like much of his music but I do like this one. The Neil Sedaka one was No 1 on the week I was born.

1985 - Frankie, Sister Sledge. Brings back old memories when we used to go to the bowling club discos. This song always got people up dancing.

1995 - Gangsta's Paradise, Coolio. I can still listen to it today and never get bored of it.

2005 - Numb , Linkin Park. The best of a bad bunch.

1985 is the best era for me as it bring back so many good memories for me.

That was my second choice. Am familiar with this for the same reason, it being the theme tune to one of my all-time favourite sitcoms, Married With Children.

My choices:

1955: Bill Haley & His Comets - Rock Around The Clock. Classic 50s Rock 'n' Roll.

1965: California Dreamin - Mamas & The Papas. Many people rave about the 60s, but does doesn't do much for me, however, I quite like this song.

1975: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody. Maybe an obvious choice, but it's far superior to the rest.

1985: A-Ha - Take On Me. Brilliant pop and a fantastic innovative video for its time.

1995: Everything but the Girl - Missing. The beautiful and underheard voice of Tracey Thorn, with a brilliant dance remix by Todd Terry.

2005: Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. Love how Gorillaz use a mixture of musical styles and guest vocalist to great effect.

My favourite decades, in order of preference:
80s, 90s, 70s, 00s, 60s, 50s

Wasn't really around for 1965 & 1975...but looked what was released to give me an idea so I have picked the following:-

1965 - Mr Tambourine Man - the Byrds

1975 - Couldn't see anything I would pick

1985 - I Feel For You - Chaka Kahn (played everywhere, fantastic song)

1995 - Waterfalls - TLC

2005 - Best of You - Foo Fighters

1980's will be the best, just for the memories.

1955 - Rock around the clock - Bill Haley and his comets
1965 - Daytripper - The Beatles
1975 - Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
1985 - I want to know what love is - Foreigner
1995 - Roll with it - Oasis
2005 - Wake me up when September ends - Greenday

I was 14 in 2005 and most of those songs bring back memories of school and singing along with my friends at breaktime but listening to them just now, they kind of suck.

Also think 1965 was one of the best years in music and it was really hard to pick just one, i think they were all fantastic!

I struggled with 1965, so many great songs to choose one, and songs that still sound great today too.
