Hi Guys looking for a bit of advice here

Got a LG 42 LB5500 but I didn't occur to me it may not have a headphone socket on it.

My wireless headphones( Panasonic WF950) need one to connect to the tv (uses a 3.5 male connection)

would connecting it to the tv via a RCA cable Like this work? or am I going to have to live without them

No it wouldn't, as your TV doesn't have any 'RCA' (called phonos in the UK) outputs - assuming it did, then yes it would work.

Best option is to buy a Sony TV

Is there any way of getting the headphones to work?

Getting a new TV isn't an option

Only real option if you want the headphones to work with whatever you are watching on the telly is to use the optical digital out. The SCART does have audio out but that only feeds the built in Freeview tuner out. No good if you are watching a DVD/Blu-Ray or a PVR of some description plugged into it.

So if you do have any external kit hooked up to the telly the optical out is the only option. You will need a converter to feed the headphones though, something like this

Not sure if this model is like my LG TV but one of the options on mine is where the TV remote controls the volume of the optical output, normally it is fixed level.
