Samsung 3D TV 3D not working.
For some reason the 3D has stopped working on my D6530 TV.
When I try to watch a 3D file or 3D Blu-ray there is sound but no picture. There are only a couple of lines of video playing at the bottom of the screen. It is like it is either playing below the screen or is all squashed up at the bottom of the screen. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before and if they have solved the problem? |

Have you tried reverting to factory settings before trying anything else?

Don't want to end up like that until I'm sure how to get out of it. |

I've thought about it, but read some forum posts about people being stuck on a logo screen after resetting.
Don't want to end up like that until I'm sure how to get out of it. Is the TV still under warranty? |

If it won't factory reset that is a different problem. I think you have to try.
Is the TV still under warranty? I think it was the last firmware upgrade that screwed things up. I did a factory reset, but like you say, that didn't solve the problem. I was just hoping someone else might have come across the same problem and solved it. |

Have you contacted Samsung to see if there are other reports of issues with the firmware?
Also, they may know of a way of re-installing it or rolling it back if it's an issue. |

I've got a Samsung UE40D6530 and I suggest you Google 'samsung d6530 forum'. That's what I did and found one user with the same problem. One suggestion was to to press the 3D button on your remote when the video is playing and then choose the top+bottom icon. That should tell your TV to enter 3D mode.
Another here on the CNET forum (the Samsung US tech provides a link to UK support page): http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_10...wing-problems/ The top link from the Google search will offer you the AV Forums D6530 forum. |

Google is good but sometimes you have to know how to phrase the question so you don't get pages of stuff about the product from companies. The first solution you suggested wouldn't work because the TV is entering 3D mode, but for some reason it is displaying the video all squashed up into the last few lines at the bottom of the screen. |

It doesn't do any harm for someone else to Google as well, I was looking for latest posts, in case it had been a problem for others. If you said you'd Googled in your OP, I probably would've been more specific in my search. Lots of FMs don't bother to look or don't know what to look for or how to phrase the search (as you posted).

Mine stopped working last year and had to have the main board replaced, that sorted it as it was a fault on the board.

I always try Google. I'm asking here incase anyone has had the same experience.

The first solution you suggested wouldn't work because the TV is entering 3D mode, but for some reason it is displaying the video all squashed up into the last few lines at the bottom of the screen. In the 3D settings (should be somewhere in the tv menu) you could check that it is set to AUTO or failing that side by side (as that is probably the correct format) and then try and play the file again ... |

I've managed to take a couple of photos of what is happening, as it is easier to see than to describe.
http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps848b6e01.jpg http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/q...ps3f7af8ac.jpg The white lines running up the screen are a new problem I am not too worried about as I think they will be resolved if I can figure out why the video is only playing at the bottom of the screen. You can also see that the video is 2D, the 'Monday' caption is normal. So there is no 3D conversion going on, as far as I can tell. |

I managed to downgrade the firmware but sadly that didn't solve the problem.
So it either wasn't the upgrade or it did permanent damage. But at least I have ruled it out now and I can now Samygo my TV. |

Well I tried it again, and this time the picture is half way up the screen rather than an inch at the bottom of the screen. So it is improving.

[quote=koantemplation;76284065]Sadly not. It isn't too much of a problem as I don't watch 3D that much. I'd just like to try to solve it if I can though.
it.[quote] It may not be under manufacturers warranty but that is in addition to your legal rights which give you six years protection. Is it more than six years old? |

European Sales of Goods Act, but it must be a manufacturers fault, inherent in the production (I think)

What device are you using to play the 3D video?

And to qualify as a "fault" under SoGA you will have to prove that the fault was present from the time of purchase and not the result of misuse or fair wear and tear. http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/englan...ty_goods_e.htm |

It is definitely a TV fault, as the image has now risen up the screen. |
