Consolidated ratings for Doctor who (including recorded etc) put the xmas special at over 8 Million viewers.

Dear Mirror Newspaper. - What are you smoking over there? Ratings crisis indeed!

Did this story even get in the print edition of the sunday mirror? ,i have a feeling it was just a online article thrown together by a work experience person

Sorry. Blame Fry and Laurie...

Edit: You didn't mention Series averages did you. Whoops.”

I think series 4 was by far the most popular New Who has ever been. Far as I can recall practically everyone was talking about it back then.

After losing 2m viewers year on year Steven Moffat's next episode should see Doctor Who using The Tardis to go back and get the lost ratings”

When you see a big upwards blip in RTs and notifications it is a sign you've upset the Doctor Who fans...”

We can probably expect more from him

It's still my favourite season to date. Love the Doctor/Donna combination!

But the latest Mirror story is still (at the very least) disingenuous. The ratings remain good.

Ultimately, the same number of people are watching Doctor 12/Clara as watched Doctor 9/Rose or Doctor 10/Martha or Doctor 11/Amy.

Viewing habits are changing. Viewing figures are not. The Mirror reporter is an idiot writing stories by numbers.

It's fine guys, I can explain all of this.

Nigel Pauley came from the Daily Star :P

Ratings figures aren't recorded by HBO, so figures will still be released, HBO just won't comment on or publicise them.

The same would be the case if the BBC stopped reporting figures in the UK. BARB would still release the data...

Its in there. I cant believe how many people, like Moffatt when he has ruined the show.
I think Doctor Who should start no later than 6.15 as that would help encourage Moffat to return to RTD style which I can assure if would be preferred by most.

Who are these 'most' people for whom you claim to speak?
Surely not the millions who consistently watch Doctor Who and keep it in the top ten most watched programmes?
If 'ruining' the show means making it one of the most watched BBC shows across the world, then yes Moffat has 'ruined' Doctor Who, but I suspect you and I are working from very different definitions of 'ruined'...

What is RTD style and how could Moffat do it without becoming RTD? Wouldn't it then too be Moffat style? Or RTD-Under-Moffat Style? Would they be somehow related to Gangnam Style?

They should all be doing it Lambert style instead.

the spelling mistake under the first image of the doctor and clara just sums up this piece of garbage

i personally don't know any fan that preferred RTDS style of writing for Doctor Who and I run a huge Facebook Who page so I'm not sure who you mean here,

Ha ha,it looks like they grabbed half those quotes from this board.
Personally I've enjoyed the new series,I wouldn't go as far as excellent but it's been good.
The end of Matts run was poor for me,though through no fault of Matt who was excellent, the writing has improved this series,it can improve further but it's on the right track.
I still don't see any evidence of a supposedly darker Doctor though, yet lots of others seem to

Awww your poor nan,

Did anyone else struggle to understand the episode ??
as I found it easy but I had to think about it ie where the dream crabs had first got The Doctor and Clara and the last part of the story but to me it was no more confusing than any other episode I loved it!

Thankfully I'm generally able to make sure my Gran keeps up It has been my duty ever since she returned to the show due to Capaldi (she got to him at the premiere before I could!)

It is the Daily Mirror - what do you expect - quality, factual information?

Those red-top tabloids have one use only - to wrap up yesterday's greasy leftovers before chucking them in the bin.

It's interesting that this drivel should come from a "newspaper" which halved its circulation over the last decade, according to actual published figures.

What a poor excuse for an article.

The writer failed to note ...

- Capaldi/Coleman have chemistry in spades.
- Both Daleks and Cybermen appeared in episodes during the eighth series.
- The stories were actually more striaghtforward compared to some of the ones between the fifth and seventh series.
- Ratings might be down but only slightly and nowhere to a point where the show is in any danger of being cancelled.
