Wanting to buy on either contract or PAYG with O2 but neither prices are decreasing.

Prices are already very low.
It s in the iPHone 6 category, but costs more to make ( 720p AMOLED screen) yet costs £250 or so unlocked,

£250 looks expensive because other phones can be artificially priced high for contract inclusives.

I've got my beady eyes on one of these. Where is it £250? The cheapest I can see is 275 on giffgaff.

How much do they cost to make in comparison then? And what comparison are you making, because it definately isn't either build quality, performance or support.

High spec to me.
The NFC actually works. So does the USB and with no metal tomb, signal standby will be likely double that of form over function offerings. Memory expansion also means you can pop in a 64 or 128GB micro SD card if you need.

Its also waterproof, and has a heart rate sensor + fingerprint scanner if that's your thing.

A failing is the lack of a screen ridge, but not being edge to edge screen or brittle, at least it has some survival chance on being dropped.

Maybe worth just buying the full S5 right now instead of the mini, not a huge difference in price

I remember S5s costing near £500 not long ago, wow.

I feel pretty bad now about my EE deal. In the past contract phones used to be subsidised ie. cheaper than buying outright, the opposite seems the case now.

I suppose the issue is if the OP deliberatly doesnt want an S5 due to preferring smaller phones.

That is Vodafones Black Friday type special deal.
Likely their normal price is £560. They had the LG G2 a months or so ago at £150.

Anyway, all gone again. Whatever stock they get in/show is gone in about an hour.

It's quite scary how quickly the flagship Samsung phone is being discounted. If reports are to be believed, sales have been a lot lower than expected, but the discounting is not good news for current owners who get punished by resale values.

Yes, Samsung phones no longer hold their value due to serious competition from Asia, e.g. the OnePlusOne and similar.

Amazon have the S5 unconnected for £369:

Yes, now all you get is the privilege to pay for paying for the handset over a longer period of time. And in EE's case, access to price plans that are only available by buying a handset (!) such as the shared plans.

It is quite large compared to most of the others. Many people in my office with S4, HTC one (m7) are inclined to wait and see what the S6 and M9 era phones bring, hopefully more 4.7" devices rather than the "huge" 5" S5.

I am tempted to sell my S5 LTE-A and buy one of those normal S5s since the LTE-A model has almost no dev support in the custom rom/kernel community. I also feel duped by EE. e.g. they have double speed 4G as part of their checker but it turns out that isnt LTE-A as a friend told me yesterday, the actual LTE-A is in small parts of london only. Given on EE one can get 2 gig data and unlimited mins for less than £20 I am effectively paying almost £600 for this phone. I still need to hassle EE over this security deposit that was probably only in the small print as I wasnt told on the phone (when I rang for order approval) or on the website during point of sale. I will see if I can use that against EE to get them to move me to a better deal, I wouldnt be feeling so bad if they had moved me to their 10gig package at same minthly price.

This is the first time I got a phone on contract usually I buy them outright, and I think this will be the last time as well.

Also I looked up the oneplusone, it looks a great deal except one problem, you need an invite to buy one wtf?

AFAIK It's widely available online without any invite these days. Have you checked on Amazon?

no as was no hits on google, but I see its almost 30% more expensive on amazon. Not quite the flagship killer at amazon price.

I suppose tho given this phone seems sponsored by cyanogen it is a guarantee of official cyanogen support.

Limitation of LTE bands did not stop people buying that a certain other phone .Back then it seems it was the original bendy, but likely less bendy than those newer ones, one too if my memory serves me right.

But again the OnePlus is a bigger phone.

Probably because it wasn't an issue when the 5 was announced? To omit 800MHz for a current phone (2 years later) is a stupid error or cost cutting with an old radio chip (or the maker just couldnt care about Euro customers).

By chance, they are selling another batch at 7pm, £229 I much guess.

800LTE would be useful too but considering its price then £229 for real top end specs is not shabby.

Real LTE-A (Cat 6) with 800mhz and support for all EU bands for only £249 ? Not used one myself.
