Spot on - though it's not just a random date. Quite interesting to see how the thread has developed in the last 24 hours as well!
Voting in Big Brother has often been compared with voting in the general election - as more votes were cast in the first series of BB than in the 2001 General Election - though in a general election you can only vote once!
I do think it wouldn't be bad a time to start though - at 10pm on 5th May BBC1 and ITV1 will both switch to election coverage and try and fill the first hour or so before any results actually come in. I think Big Brother could perform quite well in the ratings there!
I also think even those staying with election coverage through the night might channel surf over to the live streaming to see what the new HMs are getting up to.
It might be overshadowed in the press on the Friday morning though by the general election - but I think it still get good coverage. It would be a move that would certainly generate press coverage before hand - and probably get analysed in the broadsheets.
Also, as some of you suggested, there are many taglines that could be associated with the scheduling. I'd use something like "Now it's time to find out who'll be moving into the most famous house in Britain".
And why move the launch to a Thursday - as said earlier you generally get the launch show on Friday then nothing until Sunday night. Launching on Thursday could then lead to highlights of the first day on Friday night.
P.S. It has already been confirmed the series will run for 11 weeks - and both Davina and Dermot are back!
P.P.S. Re: exams - one on a Saturday - just not right! Must confess I did leave (and finish!) an exam early a couple of years ago so I'd be back for BBLB.
