This is a very personal opinion, I always believe that this Westlife member is a brilliant singer. As a singer songwriter, we will be able to judge as he released his work soon.

Excited to hear him again.

He does, but then I seem to be in a minority in not liking Sam Smith's singing voice at all.

I have the same feeling about Sam Smith as I did about Duffy - the voice will start to grate badly, resulting in a one album wonder........

I think Mark Feehily sings better than most other male singers I have heard.

I don't like Sam Smith at all, especially when he gets into a very high register, it almost sounds like he inhaled helium.

And yes, Mark definitely has a better voice - I hope his career takes of in the right way, he definitely deserves success.

This is amazing clip:

Why are both these men being put against one another in "so and so sings the best"

Apart from the fact they are both gay, the comparison ends there.

Neither are alike in voice or sound of music.

Mark will soon release his first solo work, just over thinking that they might share the same market, considering their similarities of course in gender, looks (personal opinion), songwriting ability (mark is a brilliant songwriter too), about the music we have no idea yet what king of music will Mark choose to track.

In my opinion Markus Feehily has one of the most unique, recognisable voices - one of the best vocalists and I'm glad he's now getting the chance to do music he's proud of and he's able to take the time he needs to create music. Judging from what I've read his music will be different to Westlife so I hope people will give him a chance and listen before they judge.

I think his and Sam Smith's voices are too different. Looking forward to Markus' solo debut. By the way, is there a thread about his solo? We could open one, his first solo show is in March so I believe we could have a music tease soon.

Mark looks nothing like Sam Smith? I think Mark is a very good looking guy (and not at all camp looking). I've never been a Westlife fan but am interested in what Mark will do as he has a great voice and very easy on the eye. I tried to listen to a Sam Smith song as I felt I was the only person who'd never heard of him but I had to switch off before the end he was hurting my ears.
