Speaking on recent news that the week of EastEnders' 30th Anniversary will feature a flashback episode, actress Tanya Franks who plays the character Rainie Cross has said the following
It's fab to be back celebrating the 30th anniversary of EastEnders. Where have the last three decades gone?! So, if you want to find out if Rainie was really with Ian Beale on the night Lucy Beale died, then all will be revealed!
.

Could there be uncertainty regarding Ian Beale's true whereabouts on the night of his daughter's death?

I mentioned a few days that it would be most interesting if Tanya Franks was on a cast list around the reveal week and so it turns out. I guess though if they are just recreating the events then she could simply validate Ian's alibi but I think there may be more to it (as I think Ian did it). It is an odd thing for her to say as I have not heard much question of whether Ian was really with her or not. I wonder was she directed to say this or has she said something she shouldn't have.

Of course he was with Rainie. Or else she wouldn't turn up wanting her money back for Good Friday.

It's where he was after that counts.

It might be something like although she was with him it wasn't at the time Ian has said - she figures this out so he's back on the suspect list.

I don't think there can be any doubt he was with her at some stage on Good Friday.

Like the other poster said - there's definitely more to it, or else there'd be no point of bringing back Tanya Franks

Any excuse for Rainie to be back on screen

She's brilliant

and I know a girl just like her, minus the prostitution.

Like that's the beginning and and end of Rainie's problems!

I've always wondered that. If lucy confronted rainie and rainie winding her up about everything that happened and knowing how nasty lucy can be she tells her exactly what she thinks of her, rainie snaps and hits her. Although that wouldn't explain how the body was moved.

I think we'll find that Good Friday was the first time Mick and Rainie met (not saying he slept with her but I think something happened!).

I remember when he kicked her out the pub she said something like "you picked me up though" and she looked really genuine... then he told her where to go lol

I'm thinking that Lucy saw Ian and Rainie and confronted one or the other too...

I haven't ruled Ian out as the killer, infact I still think he's a strong possibility (not saying it would have been on purpose though of course)

Unless he has no recollection of it because otherwise there is no way he'd be able keep quiet about it also how did her body get there? No way would ian have done that. No one who loved her would do that.

I don't see a reason for Rainie to return for the flashback episode unless there's something up with Ian's alibi.. we really don't need to see them together.

I think she was good at acting as an addict. I'd like to see her back full time.

You asked "was Ian really with Rainie."

Why would she come back for the 30th, if he was never with her in the first place?

With her sexually.
As in used her services.
She might have just seen something she wasn't meant to - hence the constant following him around clamouring him for money.

Either way there is definitely more to her role in the story, otherwise they wouldn't have just chucked her into the equation or felt the need to bring her back for the 30th anniversary.

Tanya Franks is the person who asked was Ian really with Rainie, it is directly from her statement.

I agree with this. Could even be something along the lines of he got so drunk that he passed out / fell asleep before any 'deed' could be done, and she is blackmailing him over something that never actually happened? Confirms his alibi and adds to Ian's story.

I think this
I don't think he did do the deed
