Advice on Freesat Recorder
Hi,
I will try and keep this short but i have just stopped using Sky+ and i am now looking for a Freesat recorder. We only tend to record chanals 1 to 5 which is why we are moving away from Sky to Freesat and wanted to know what options we have as in boxes to buy. I have looked at the Humax brand is there any others to look at? We also dont want to spend mega money on one so around £100 is what we have to spend. Chris |

http://www.freesat.co.uk/get-freesat...-with-freetime gives you boxes that include the CatchupTV services.
http://www.freesat.co.uk/get-freesat...-with-freetime the simpler ones. You'll be lucky to find one in your price range that records. Humax managers special refurbs are usually good buys (P&P is £8 or so) However, if you plan to record a lot of HD (C5 will be SD only, though) then a 500GB will fill quickly... it may be better to pay more for a 1 TB box. {Calculate your subs for 12 months... it should easily be enough to pay for such a box.} If you have a working terrestrial TV aerial you could consider Freeview HD PVRs or a You View recording box - "free" if you take out a broadband and TV contract with BT or Talk Talk. These can come in an the price bracket you want. |

Chris Of course you could use the Catchup services to act as your 'recorder' - albeit they have a limited time and not all programmes will be available due to Rights issues. I almost never watch live TV and have recently watched stuff recorded a year or more ago.
