My old "keyboard" phone is on the way out (RIP) and now think it is time to purchase a smartphone, but there is problem, as I am profoundly deaf I only rely on it for smsing or for taking pictures and that is about it, I know with smartphones you can download applications and that might help me if some new "deaf savvy" applications become available, as its use so rarely I do not want to go "price crazy" and purchase a very expensive phone, my price range is between £100 - £150+, so does anyone have any ideas of what to buy, obviously easy to use and also it would need to be unlocked as I am on Vodafone PAYG, thanks for any advice given

Others will know better than me (as I'm one of those snooty iPhone 6 users : ) but just a very quick look on Amazon how about the S3 mini http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Gala...ung+smartphone

Or if you can stretch the S4 mini http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Gala...ung+smartphone

I can recommend the Motorola Moto G 4G phone.

Tesco have it at the moment for £115, but if you want to use it on another network you can get an unlocking code from Ebay for less than £2.

Seconded on Moto G 4G - very good and 4G capable for not much money. It also has a MicroSD slot for those who care.

Nokia Lumia 735 is a great mid-range phone which supports 4G has a 7MP camera (better than moto G and also has a 5MP 1080p front facing camera.

You can get it from carphone for £159.99 (on EE) although the phone is unlocked so you can put your voda sim in.

It comes in different colours too.

At the moment it's £129.99 plus a £20 topup at EE stores, but it will be locked to EE/Tmobile/Orange
