You need to check where you bought it, as JVC don't make TV's any more - so it's just a badge used by the retailer.

It was bought at Curry's

Then ask at Currys, 'possibly' they will know who makes it?.

I would imagine that any basic USB keyboard will work with it OK. If you avoid ones with all sorts of fancy multimedia controls and a button to summon your personal servant to make the tea on them then just select one that you like the look of. Just be aware though that this applies to wired keyboards, the TV might not recognise a wireless keyboard that uses a USB dongle. Or if it does it may only recognise a few specific models. Any such restrictions should be in the manual, if it is any good - though that may be debatable on a TV like this which is basically just a badge stuck on some generic mass produced kit.

As for hard drive. Read the manual as some TVs may impose restrictions on what size drive it can accept. But in general just about any USB drive should work. One thing that you might need to consider is the power available from the USB port on the TV. It might be best to find a drive that includes it's own power supply rather than rely on the power from the USB port.

One other thing to consider with the hard drive. The TV will likely encrypt the recordings so that they can only be played back on that physical TV. You won't be able to plug the drive into a computer or another TV (even an identical make and model) to play back the recordings. Also it won't be a substitute for a full PVR. You will probably be unable to record any programme other than the one you are watching, ie no recording Eastenders while watching Corrie for example.

I can imagine that conversation.

OP to Currys sales muppet "Who makes this JVC TV please"
Currys sales muppet "JVC"
OP "No who really makes it, JVC don't make TV's, it just a badge"
Currys "JVC"
OP "It's not JVC"
Currys "yes it is it says so on the badge"

And so on and so on

You've probably figured this out for yourself by now Hammo,

For the benefit of anyone stumbling via search onto this topic as I did -

I have recently purchased two JVC TV's from Curry's and I was pleasantly surprised to discover their current range DO support wireless keyboards and mice[b] - and I highly recommend the ones I picked up in Wilkinson. I can confirm they worked straight away in both my JVC connected tellies (when using the JVC web browser): Bargain!

-TEXET Wireless Keyboard (£10)
-TEXET Wireless Optical Mouse (£9)

Most JVC TVs only have 2xUSB ports - which I thought was a bit of a pain (at first) until I discovered a simple USB Hub (from poundland!!) worked fine with the telly without affecting the functionality of any USB devices connected (as sometimes happens with PCs).

Having had a nightmare experience with Sony, LG and BUSH TVs being virtually totally incompatible, JVC as a brand has gone up in my estimation, they always seemed to be a mid-range sort of affair.

Having the keyboard and mouse work so seemly perfect is the icing on the cake that is my 50" full LED telly with Wifi for £330,

Oh and Don't bother asking Curry's anything that goes beyond what they already tell you in their printed/website blurb! They don't employ exclusively "tech-heads" (as somewhere like Richer Sounds or even Cash Generator tend to do) nor train their staff in anything beyond customer service... but at least it's not in the league of ARGOS!

BIB. JVC don't make TVs. It is just a badge stuck on someone else's product. There is no guarantee that two different models with JVC badges on are even made by the same manufacturer! So there is no guarantee that what works on your model of TV will work on any other model of TV with a JVC badge on.

As already pointed out (repeatedly), JVC isn't a 'brand', it's just a badge used on cheap gear - it could be made by anyone, and different models may be made by entirely different manufacturers.
