You can say what you like about any female group, I don't mind, why should it bother me?
But then I guess some can take things so personally on here. It's not worth the bother of even discussing. So I'd suggest you shouldn't concern yourself so much with my opinions. The Spice Girls were never much cop singing live, but that's just my opinion. By the way, you can only be enamoured "of" someone. and "fellow travelers" means "people of like minds."

Oh dear. I wasn't taking it personally. That's the thing about the internet. I guess I sounded much angrier to you than I actually was when I was really just trying to find the answer to a question. Never mind then...
![]() DS is riddled with "throwaway remarks." If someone in real life said to you, "Anything's better than (whatever)," you wouldn't take it literally. |

It doesn't surprise me that they are dropped. They are one hit wonders (barely) and that is only cos of Sean Paul.

Long time coming if true. Their sales and music have been terrible these past few year.

They could've had a far more successful campaign and a lot more dignity if they just said they were ending with a GH.
They need to get a grip though they treat it like a hobby. They've always had at least one pregnant member for the last 3 years. They should sack their manager too - the release schedule for the third album, they'd have charted far higher releasing it off the back of 'All Fired Up' rather than whatever the song is that followed it (don't even remember it). The last albums single schedule was absurd... May 2012 March 2013 June 2013 October 2013 April 2014 By this point they had completely abandoned their routes! 'Disco Love' done well because it was out and out pop like 'Up' which made the band big. Their move into eurodance took away any personality they had and just killed them. |

I'm not a fan of them, but why are people here saying that they are dropped? They haven't been dropped and are recording a new album. As has been said earlier on in the thread, they are on a 360 deal so despite the flops they have had and may continue to have, the label still make money from them from other work that they do...for example Strictly Come Dancing, interviews, photoshoots they do, presenting work. The label take a cut of their earnings from all of this work. Also, they don't exactly work with huge, big named producers when they make their albums. Studio time etc is expensive and it does cost a lot to make an album, however for a band like The Saturday's the cost would be low when you compare it to other artists. 360 deals are slowly becoming the norm...Cheryl, Pixie Lott etc are all on these sorts of deals.

Even though Sean Paul has no fanbase in the UK and it was the fastest selling song of the year when it was released? They were hardly one hit wonders either. Ego, Higher, Up, Just Can't Get Enough, All Fired Up, Issues, MIssing You and their first album/third album were pretty big.

They've had a lot of top 10s but that doesn't always mean a hit. Remember when McFly released Transylvania and it's chart run was 01 - 20 - OUT? Not a hit.
Up, Higher, Notorious, All Fired Up, What About Us, Disco Love could be considered genuine hits but that's probably it really. |

Ask ten random people on the street and they'd probably recognise the girls but wouldn't be able to name anything that they've released, sadly. B.I.B - I always liked that one. |

I repeat The Saturdays have not been dropped they are still signed to their record label, and are working on their next album. There is no rumors just one person on a forum saying it and anyone can pull something out their ass.

I'm kinda mixed with this topic.
On the one hand, I loved them from 2008-2011 and thought they were amazing. Then Little Mix came out and (as much as I still like The Sats), LM showed me what a REAL girlband can do. The Saturdays then kinda just became media personalities who occasionally sang together. The worst part is they themselves don't seem to really care or show interest in their career as a band anymore. Their non-enthusiasm baffles me!!! So, as much as my 16-20yro self would miss them, now at 22 and seeing what they've been like recently, I think it's for the best to hang up the coloured tights and heels and leave with whatever dignity they have left :\ I mean, really....as a BAND....where else can they go from here??? |

I'd say they are already the norm. Pretty much every artist is on some form of a 360 deal these days with maybe a few obvious exceptions. Record sales just don't cut it anymore.

I agree, although I don't think Syco do 360 deals. I think this is why acts from the X Factor and artists that they sign don't last long at the label...if their music isn't selling, bam they're dropped. Also explains why for some acts there's a long gap between albums...they know that the music needs to be good and sell or else it's bye bye.

You don't need to repeat it. It's not like a load of people are on tenterhooks worrying that this might be the end of The Saturdays.

Yeah, one of the problems I have with the band is that so much of their recent music has just been generic dance music and they rarely seem to make the kind of pop music that they made on Chasing Lights. When Disco Love came out I thought that perhaps they were moving back towards their old sound, but sadly the accompanying album was mostly just mediocre dance music.

I really like Not Giving Up as a song, but I've just watched the video for the first time - and it is dire! The girls cannot dance well enough to pull off the concept and it looks really poorly finished off, not slick at all!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBoXld4URfk So if the girls aren't great vocally and can't dance, we're down to good looks really! |
