Here again is another Mootle disaster, caused by her regrettable tendency to inadvertently live in a typical Mootle type house, where everything is not quite as it should be, and various knacks are required for turning things on.... The boiler was serviced on Friday, and the engineer also bled the bathroom radiator, which is situated inches from my head, when I am lying down in the next door bedroom.

After the engineer left, I realised that, although the heating was off, keeping the hot water on caused the bathroom radiator to heat up. Arrrrrgh. Sooo I have had to turn off the hot water as well..

I suppose I could always run the bath using the shower, but that would be costly.

I wonder if the cold water in a bath would absorb some of the heat in the room maybe?

Hicky would know...

Hi Honey.:+)))))))))))))

Of course hot drinks cool you down faster because they make you perspire, the principle of refrigeration is evaporation, when you perspire it causes the water on your skin to evaporate which cools the surface.
The same as getting out of a bath or getting out of a swimming pool, before you get dry you feel cold as the water on your skin evaporates.

A cold drink quenches your thirst but doesn't cool you.”

I will take a pot of tea with me when I venture back out there, and compare the two.

Harry is far too needy now, she's driving me up the wall so how Nick must feel I have no idea. He will look back on his time in the house and wish he'd cut off the Klingon several weeks ago. Why is she always scratching her head???”

Judging by the state of her bottom which is imprinted on my brain, I would say she has eczema on her scalp.

Morning JoJo.:+))))))))))))))

A heavy shower won't water the garden really, when the ground is dry, it becomes like peat and the water passes through but doesn't get absorbed, a gentle shower for an hour or so would be beneficial.

Yes, Harry is acting like a nagging wife, poor bloke.

Hi linmic.:+)))))))))))

It's strange how everyone in the house spends all their time discussing the affairs of others, no wonder some can't take it, when you have all those HM's talking about what you do in the house it must be stressful.”

Harry and Nick seem to have a really unhealthy relationship that benefits neither. I cant see the point of it.

Hello Andagha. Lovely to have you back.
It is a bit grim out there. I dont know why people are so against opposing views to their own. If they dont want to hear and consider other opinions why do they post at all? They might as well talk to themselves.

Morning Mootle and Honey...

I have air con too..well portable air con but it sort of does the job, and no it isn't a fan...lol. Last nght we put the one on in the bedroom for the whole time we were asleep..I think it helped the dog sleep as he wasn't panting so much when I woke up at 4am The other dog slept downstairs where it was much cooler..

I thought it was going to be a bit cooler today with the incoming rain, but it's more muggy than anything else. So the air con is on downstairs too... The elderly dog is not panting so that must be something...

I am dreading the highlights tonight if James Jordan is in there..he was a right knob in the series he was in. Plus I really couldn't take to him, he always seemed to think that because he was famous he was more special than everyone else..

Do you not have thermo valves that you can turn off the radiators? Although saying that in this weather for some reason my bathroom radiator still gets hot when it is on the frost setting..weird!!!

Well, he is the Brad Pitt of the dancing world.

I find that positioning the fan to blow over a bowl of ice helps a lot. Its like a DIY version of air con I suppose.

Very inventive Honey!!

It's much much cooler today thank goodness also so far no rain.

Welcome back Andagha, lovely to see you, and welcome linmic - yes I noticed last night that the main threads were getting very adversarial again.

Fortunately for me this year, I don't feel very strongly about any of the HMs so don't feel the need to go into battle for/against them! I did comment last night about Marc's remark re Aisleyne (taxi door) as I thought she thoroughly deserved it and she makes no bones about her 'romantic life' in the press whenever anyone will listen to her. The sooner she checks out the better, although the look on her face when she heard that she will transferring from 'guest' to 'staff' was priceless

I don't like James Jordan but it'll be interesting to hear the spin he puts on life in the house, and how he deals with Marc - I imagine he'd like him???

I'm watching the tennis - at least the rules are clear and simple and no-one keeps appearing and beggaring about with it all

Hello everybody.

I'm quite fascinated by this Big Brother now, not because I think it's any good but because it has become such a shambles. I really don't know how it can come back from this series.

One of the things the Channel 5 version got right was not to have new housemates or guests going in too often. Why ruin that this year?

While I'm enjoying seeing some of my old faves going in, I'm really struggling to see the point of it now. How are we supposed to select somebody to be evicted or win when the focus is on non-eligible contestants of yesteryear? It is wholly unfair.

Hotel BB, would have been lovely as a non-competitive spin off, similar to BB Panto. But as a task after we've already 3 ex-housemates go in, it seems redundant & I can completely understand Jack's frustration.

The BB legacy appears to be coming completely undone by this series too. None of the original basic rules seem to be there, Brian Belo claiming he's ceased involvement with the show, Aisleyne making a total arse of herself (why is she even still there?) & the whole Nikki & Helen thing - it's all very sad.

While I don't want this to be a live feed rant, the show is clearly being produced as if there was one.

If this survives another year on Channel 5, I'll be very surprised.

On a side note, had anyone seen those love Big Brother style Friends adverts on Comedy Central?

Hi Moots.:+))))))))))))))))

The bath of cold water would absorb some of the temperature in the room, you would also need a fan to circulate the air, warm air rises so you want to get it to come down.

I'm pretty sure at least 1 radiator has to stay on with the modern boilers.

We have a continuous copper pipe on our bathroom towel rail at the bottom that keeps the water running through all the times. We were told we had to have that when our boilers was installed 10 years ago.. But it isn't always hot.. But we can turn all our rads off to frost setting in the summer..

her bottom? If she continues to adopt thatscraped hairstyle she will get traction alopecia.
hmmmm I know only too well where my dogs' tongues Have Been...
Ancient aircon in some of the rooms, on its last legs I fear. The one in my room is leaking and the firm that installed the units went bust ages ago.
I tried to buy a portable unit today.. Not surprisingly they are all sold out at Argos.

Usually the water is heated by gas, which always used to be cheaper and comes with a timer.

The bathroom radiator is a fairly new replacement, and there doesn't seem to be a valve.

The central heating system has pumps that come on at certain times so i imagine the circulatory system wouldn't work properly if all was shut off.
As far as i know it's standard, I will have to find out the real reason it is required.

Morning everyone We actually have a breeze here in Kent..not a lot of a breeze but it's a breeze none the less... I only know because my curtains are moving...lol

Supposed to be another hot day here..ugh!!! I know we should be grateful for the hot weather as we don't get it often, but I'm not!! I want it to turn colder so that at least I don't have to be wearing what looks like nightwear only to keep cool... It isn't it's cami tops but to me it looks like nightwear...lol

Honey yes Ais did take her dirty knickers off in the store room..although I can't say if she put clean ones on as I didn't see that. All I saw was the dirty ones coming off and the skirt and that's all... But then it wouldn't surprise me if she did go commando...ewww!!!

I'm going to catch up on some ironing this afternoon - air con trained on me fully. Have to plan what we are having for tea as I can't decide and we are going shopping this evening after Dh gets home.. Also have to phone MIL to see whether FIL came home from hospital, she hasn't rung me back from earlier this week and I'm scared to ring now..

I think I might miss some of the eviction tonight due to late night shopping..but then it will only be the highlights so not too bothered...

Hi Andagha.:+)))))))))))))))

Scorching out there, had to come in, very hard to work in that.

Was going to do tomorrow what it was too hot to do today, but, by the looks of it nothing changes.

The eviction odds for tonight are:
Harry 11/10
Jack 11/5
Marc 7/2
Sam 8/1

Hello Fellow Lurking Heat Exhaustion Victims

Oh dear I thiiink I may also have a somewhat Sam type personality along with the Nick tendencies

Possibly viewers of BB also get to learn things about themselves

I wonder how many of the remaining housemates were head hunted by BB??

Harry:-deffo
Marc: deffo - he didn't have a clue who Brian was when he met him.
Danny: possibly (has been on other reality shows)
Cristian: possibly
Jack: no
Sam: no
Chloe:no

I can't really remember some of the early evictees!

Yes Honey you did, I knew you'd notice as soon as I saw it! She was wearing a bikini under a floaty thing - the camera pulled away as she deposited her bikini bottoms onto the worktop, she was changing into her 'staff' uniform so we didn't get to see what happened next!

I hope Harry goes tonight so that Nick can have a few unfettered days to end his experience - what a miserable, moany, controlling creature she is. Neither she nor Nick reminds me of you in the slightest, Moots, unless you've been holding back on us
