sorry to hear Ronnie Corbit passed on, what a wonderful man he was, so many happy hours did i spend watching and listening to him and the 2 Ronnies.”

Thank you Hicky.
They were certainly very clever and funny, and did it without mentioning vaginas every two minutes, like so many of the "new" comedians do. (I wouldnt mind if it was funny but usually it isnt)

Just as I thought I had beaten the multiquote into submission, it starts missing bits out!

Hope children, grandchildren, pets and Mr JoJo are all ok.

For those with dogs, do you all have them vaccinated against kennel cough?
The other day My daughter came back from the vet with Pippin unvaccinated against it.
There was no record of her ever having it, and when asked, my daughter thought there must be a reason why it was left out.

NOBODY had EVER even mentioned flipping kennel cough vaccine or asked if we wanted it. ( why wouldn't you?) so i assumed it was included automatically, as it is at the usual vets we use.

Crikey, you would think you would just hand over your fortune and get them protected against everything without having to pre-empt their shortcomings, wouldn't you?

I think Pippin will have to join the others at the vets run by an extra bad tempered version of Gary Busey.

Hello all

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!!!!

They do say that whatever age a person is, it is the new 30! Loving the necklace and the pink bowl AND the cupcakes
I have always had my dogs vaccinated against kennel cough. My v e t says that this is usually recommended for dogs who have to spend time in kennels for any reason, as it spreads like wildfire. I want them to be pepared if ever I am temporarily unable to look after them and they have to go to kennels for a while, God forbid.

have fun chosing the other presents!

Have just been watching the Goggleboxers watching Bear Gryllis (I am so NOT a fan) having a rectal infusion of God knows what to rehydrate him in the absence of clean water to drink. They all had to follow suit and I do hope they each had their own personal pipe.

Thank you Moots.

Yes, it never occurred to me that anyone wouldnt want the KC vaccine and actually have to ask for it. It costs an extra 29 pounds apparently, and Im horrified that Pippin has been unprotected.
They dont just catch it in kennels. It is a dog cold and spreads in the same way. Even a dog sneezing on the other side of the road can infect them.
They can shove it! Pippin is going to Gary Busey on Wednesday for the missing KC vac.

PS. They will never have to go in kennels. They can have a holiday at mine.

But if you are going to carry a re hydration pipe round with you wouldn't it be better to carry a coke instead? Or sterilising tablets?

Good morning everyone!

So sorry for my sudden "departure" - I had to dash off in a hurry to help out with a job crisis in Berlin. The WiFi there was prohibitively expensive, so I only used it to check emails, etc. But I am back now in rainy Wales.

Honey, Happy happy Birthday for yesterday !!!!

Moots, how is your carpet doing?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello all

No multiquote again

Aww thanks Honey for the offer of a holiday home for my lot! I quite agree with you about the coke and/or sterilising tablets. This is a clear cut case of innocent contestant-and-viewer abuse!

TW the carpet dye was a great success, until I finished the can. I got 2 more cans today but they are now out of stock!
Cute story about the police cat!!

Evening all - I don't know whether our dogs have kennel cough vaccine, I've never thought about it. They don't go into kennels but they do stay with my son's dog walker sometimes - maybe I should ask

Lovely day today, it was 21 deg when I got in the car this afternoon

Good morning everyone.

Re: Kennel cough. When my Cassie was still alive she had to go to kennels quite a lot because I was working away such a lot. (Luckily I had found a kennel right on top of a hill, the owners were sheep farmers and Cassie knew them well and loved them. She had a lot of freedom there, playing with the lambs and the ponies.) She was under the care of a holistic vet who was against the yearly vaccination procedure. We took blood tests every year instead and vaccinated only whenever her antibody count was down. For kennel cough he gave Cass a nasal spray vaccination, rather than an injection one.

I was so convinced I was doing everything right - not over-vaccinating, feeding her natural home prepared food only, never having chemicals in the house etc etc. - but she still died of massive kidney failure when she was only 12 years old. And 4 years later I am still wracked with guilt. (Sob) And I have no idea what I did wrong. Which is why I don't trust myself to ever having another dog - that, and because Cass is still very much living in my heart.

Sorry! Didn't mean to pour out my heart.

Good Morning TW and Everyone.:+)))))))))))

Sorry to hear about Cassie, not sure why you think you did something wrong, shouldn't the blood tests have shown up a problem with the kidneys?
I thought 12 years was a good age for a dog, i'm not very well up with animals.
I would be suspicious of holistic vets though myself.

Hi Hicky. The blood tests were specifically to check for anti-bodies. We periodically did other tests too, but never for kidney functions, because there were no symptoms whatsoever until the very end.
Yes, you are right (generally speaking) about holistic vets. I am in fact the most suspicious person as regards to the entire medical profession. But Nick (the holistic vet) worked very closely with my allopathic vet - I certainly always asked for second opinions when Cass was unwell. But for the 6-monthly "MOT" we went to just Nick. A) because a consultation with him took about 1 hour each time - he really did take his time and was thorough. B) because he was also a qualified allopathic vet, but didn't practice allopathy.

aww TW I'm so sorry you are still so sad. You did your very best for Cass and that is all that matters. What sort of dog was she? Maybe her breed is susceptible to getting kidney failure? 12 years is quite a good age for some dogs I think.

I'm not too well informed about the holistic approach, but I would have thought that maybe it relies on the benefits incurred by the placebo effect, which would probably not occur to the doggy patient... Please tell me, what is an allopathic vet??

Aaaaaargh - my ancient poota seems to be developing a stubborn mind of it's own! It simply doesn't DO what I tell it to do, and choses an alternative, which is very confusing to me.

I see Liz Jones in her YouMagazine column doesn't know what DS is. *Raised eyebrows smilie* I thought that DS warned all housemates to abstain from checking out DS to see what comments have been made about them. Apparently her (not) fiance's ex has been dissing Liz on DS. Is there an anti-Liz thread??

Evening all - it was warm and sunny earlier, now it's grey cold and raining - I suppose it's all about April!

Millie has never had nasal medication Moots so I guess she hasn't had it. I'd prefer that she has only what she absolutely needs but will mention it to the v e t when we next visit.

Sorry you feel badly about your pooch Telly - we had a Cassie many moons ago. 12 is a good age for some breeds, and vaccinations wouldn't have prevented kidney disease. It sounds to me as though she had a wonderful life by any standards ((()))

Hi Moots, Cass was a lurcher/terrier cross (fast and naughty). Pic.

As far as I know, there are KC intravenous vaccinations - http://www.petplace.com/article/dogs...t-for-your-dog - but they may not be available in this country. I don't know.

Allopathic means mainstream, using drugs rather than alternative remedies.
The holistic approach encompasses every aspect of healing: homeopathy, herbal, acupuncture and behavioral treatments. And I am a firm believer in this kind of approach - not only for animals. I have not been to see a mainstream doctor since 1975, when I fell off my bike.......

Thank you JoJo. (heart smiley). See above for an article on KC vaccs. She did have a great life - but so did I whilst she was with me.
