Hi Honey, How can yo be careful if you are asleep? i'm sure a 4 day old baby shouldn't be in a bed with anyone never mind adults, they have a duty of care and the baby died because they were careless.

Hi Eddy, it got to 9C here, some sun, it was pretty cloudy most of the time though.

Goood evening all

I only got up at 10.10am, but I did see most of the London Marathon - such exciting endings in all categories It looked as if their were less spectators than usual though.

I think these Y/tube videos cover a lot of it.”

Hello Hicky! I quite agree with you!

The mother is aware of any movement and her breathing sets the pace for the baby's breathing, keeping it safe.

Dogs do need to be close so they bond and dont become resentful, but I cant think of how they could think it was ok to have a jumpy dog that near to the baby? It doesn't even sound like a "jump" to me, because most dogs are very careful around babies.
I hate to say it, because i know they are lovely dogs, but i think the "Staffy" type should be regulated.”

I think there are good staffies and bad ones, as with all dogs. My Niece has 2 Great Danes, at the moment, along with several other smaller dogs. The Great Dane they had before these 2 killed my grand-niece's tiny Yorkie., and one of the new ones has actually bitten someone.

I enjoyed BGT yesterday. Actually Honey, Simon Cowell is looking less unkempt, although very old, now that the grey beard has grown a bit.

Why oh why did that not very good tenor have to dress in drag and call himself Ruby Murray?????? I was expecting a counter tenor at the very least . Maybe he was intending to sing as a counter teno,r until he heard that Simon Cowell doesn't understand or appreciate this art form.
Whyyyy does the audience invariably go into hysterical transports of delight when they hear Nessum Dorma being sung, yet AGAIN. Is this because it is he only classical music song they have ever heard? If only someone would sing one of the other gorgeous arias for the trained tenor voice..

I thought that the Elvis Impersonator was quite good in the tiiiiny bit that we were allowed to hear.

I dont know much about research on fathers, but mothers are aware of their baby's movements even when they are asleep, so provided ALL of the conditions i described are met, it is perfectly safe.

Obama came across as spiteful and childish in the last interview.

I think Nessum Dorma is popular because it was the theme for some football thing once.
I am very sick of it and I dont think Ruby Wotsit was very good. What was the outfit for ?

Hi Honey.:+))))))))))))))))
It sounds like Lazyness to me, to save getting up to feed it, it doesn't seem safe to me, why take a risk, but with a dog, my god, how stupid, a babies worse enemy is a dog, they must get so jealous, dogs don't want to be moved down the love chain.

Well, dogs and stupidity aside, it isn't a risk. It is safer. (thats what the statistics say).
I wouldn't call it lazy to be aware of the baby all night and to let it feed at will, which is the most effective way of nursing, as opposed to the child being in a different room so you can sleep soundly inbetween four hourly feeds and maybe share feeding duties?
What did you do when yours were little?

Did you see about the Red hot buffet you like? http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/...d-hot-11234100

Chanelle has just been on "This morning" and it is repeated at half past eleven if you read this in time.

Hi Honey.:+))))))))))

The babies used to be in a cot, i remember i used to make up all the bottles.
Pretty sure baby didn't sleep in our bed.

Red Hot shut last year for the same thing didn't they? O/H wouldn't eat there again after that.

I missed Chanelle, what was said?

We had a fancy shmancy cot that fixed to the side of the bed.

Neither would I! They cant help having mice i suppose, but it doesnt explain the rest of the bad hygiene.

Oh it was very good, she was on for ages. She said she is a size sixteen and happy to be a sixteen, and that although she has posed for pics in the past, on this occasion she had no idea the photos were being taken, and that she will not be losing weight and making a dvd.
She gave some very good advice... that it is pointless trying to slim down to look like someone else, because even if you get to the same size you will still look like you.
She looked really well and pretty. (probably happy after finally getting that "boil" lanced)

I like Great Danes, but they only live for eight years or so. Twice the heartbreak for the giant breeds compared to the small ones.

Doesn't Simon have anyone to say "You cant go out like that" ? If not it is a shame. (for all of us )

Hi Moots.:+))))))))))))))))
It's just the way dogs are, they don't really like intruders into their territory do they and a baby brought into the house to a dog is probably the same as with most animals they don't like someone else's offspring in their patch, thats why so many babies get killed by dogs.

I dont mean all cases, but in general people are killed by dogs because the dogs and often the children are neglected.

Dogs recognise family babies as belonging to them right from the start,. These weird, tragic, and thankfully unusual cases we read about are not representative of normal dog or human behaviour.

Hi Honey.:+)))))))))))))))

Dogs will still revert to being dogs, it's only humans that pretend they are something else, pets we might like to look on them as but i don't think the dogs see it like that, humans are just the controllers but the moment it can get back to being a dog then it acts different, most injuries to humans are caused by a dog that was thought of as a pet, but a dog will do what it wants to and people forget that.
It's similar to cats killing millions of birds, they don't need them to eat, it's instinct, just as dogs have instincts, they are dangerous if they form packs, they then revert to hunting dogs.

Yet in the sixties and seventies when dogs were left to do their own thing outside in gangs serious dog bites were almost unheard of?

Was that because they had less stress, and didn't have humans keeping them tethered which they hate.

Read before they don't like being cuddled, it causes stress, not sure why.

Depending on who is doing the cuddling, it can be interpreted as an attack, i suppose.

Havent the prices of drinks in cafes gone over the top? For the price of a couple of cokes and coffees you could have a whole meal. I was out today and came back bankrupt!

’d evening. Most of the new kittens we’ve had – Elmo (15 years ago), Willow and Shadow have slept in the bed with us. Elmo used to sleep in my hand. Not the same as a baby, though. New babies are pretty helpless when it comes to getting out of the way.

Hi Honey, it's getting expensive to get drinks out, they can charge whatever they want, or whatever you will pay.

Hi Gemo, nice to see you, i agree about the babies being pretty helpless, but i don't think the very young should be in bed with 2 people, bad enough with one.
And with a dog, totally crazy.

I think we must be aware of them in our sleep the same as babies, or im sure i would have crushed someone by now.

Im not saying babies should be in with the mother. I think people should do whatever suits the family best and it doesn't much matter.
What I was pointing out was that PROVIDING ALL the safety needs are met, it is actually safer for the baby to be in with or next to the mother than in its own room, not dangerous like you were saying.

I agree completely about the snappy dog.

If I remember correctly decades back when I was feeding my babies, if i’d been up in middle of the night Mr G would bring me the bay to feed in the morning and we might have a wee snooze together in the bed but it wouldn’t be long because the nappy usually needed changing shortly after a feed. When the kids were toddlers (about 2) and we were travelling there were occasions when they spent the night with us but it was a last resort.

The cats sleeping with us is lovely, though. The settle down on top of the covers at our feet and wake us up with purrs at the right time. I haven’t got many pictures of the two together because my vision is all over the place. I thought everything was sorted with my eye but I was told last week I would need an operation for a cataract. Also been told it is nothing to worry about and my sight will be improved after it.

Oh dear, Gemo. I am sorry to hear your sight has been bad. Terrible for anyone, but for you it must be a hundred times worse.
I hope the op comes quickly. I think it only takes four weeks to get over it completely and be as good as new again.

I remember being in and out for nappy changes too. I knew a woman who used to change hers in the dark, safety pins and all! I didnt know whether to be impressed or horrified.
