Morning everyone.

Hicky, do you still like Diana Vickers? http://www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz/5...ky-Horror-Show

Its a strange story because It implies that the Rocky horror show is some sort of sex show instead of a popular musical.

Hello all

I am NEVER going shopping again. All I wanted was a pair of Scholls. They are not in shops anymore. (
awww Honey, I know... Tis an outrage Our Scholl's Shop is now a jewellers'. Instead we have Shuropdy which is quite good.

Hello and good morning everyone.

Gorgeous sunshiney morning again. 16c at present and forecast to rise to 22c. Best of all there's the sweetest breeze. I hope we're all enjoying this weather.

Why not? It's a very popular brand. Just checked, Amazon has plenty.
I don't think there are any Scholl's Shops anymore , or Woolworths, or (soon to be) BHS Good old EU...
Good evening.

Anyone seen or heard from Mootle?
I'm here Eddy

I have defragged, disc cleaned and add-blocked my poota which seems to be OK now....
I'm not sure I dare click on links any more though...

Thanks to Sr (ages ago ) for the advice!

I'm off to click on the Diana Vickers link - I always liked her!

Did anyone watch the BAFTA Awards yesterday? There was much plugging of diversity, which I am all for, but it does have a danger of morphing into sparsely talented positive affirmation, which doesn't do anyone any good..

They seem to have diversity more or less sorted in the USA, with excellent, er, diverse actors, but I get irritated at what appears to be a deliberate policy of nearly always putting representatives of the ethnic group they are trying to promote in positions of authority

Maybe this is just confined to cop dramas?

!
Is it because of the EU? I thought it was just because all the shops are undercut on line?

I wouldn't mind so much about Scholl if only somebody had bothered to remove the list of their shops and stockists from online.
It required superhuman effort to not be snippy with the "stockist" in Halifax on Saturday.

I'm probably falsely accusing the EU, Honey

It was mainly the incomparable Sir Lenny Henry - he started off using just the word "diversity", but carried on indicating that this meant including black actors in presumably TV programes and the stage. I am puzzled by this because there are so many black actors, TV presenters and newsreaders these days. The 2 latter groups are very good, but a lot of young actors these days seem to think they can express emotions only by the degree to which they raise their eyebrows. Not everyone can be a Lenny Henry, after all. He did end his speech by (at last) includng gays, the disabled etc.. He also thanked just about everyone in his life at the moment for his success, and maybe it was a tad churlish not to mention Dawn French, who I have heard helped him a lot initially with his acting.

I thought the man singing the ubiquitously interminable Nessun Dorma on BGT had what appeared to be a very nice voice, totally ruined by the backing music. What was he thinking??? I thought he was better than Paul Potts, but maybe my judgement was clouded by the ghastly backing music. I did wonder if he was using it to mask any tuning difficulties he might have had...

Good afternoon.

Rain, rain and more blooming rain.

Motle, I agree with you about the man singing Nessun Dorma on BGT. He has a lovely voice but he just spoilt his performance. What was he thinking.

I have briefly worked with Nessun Dormaman, and I was horrified.
He is a professional cabaret performer, and is so popular he is booked up a year or so ahead.
I was baffled by the music choice, and blamed the production team for nobbling him, but looking online, it seems he already has recorded a horrific version, though i cant imagine why.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJU-09tmjBU

I am glad he appeared under his real name and not the stage one, so hopefully it wont affect his career.
At a stretch, I can see that the jazzed up version might go down well at the end of the night in a club, and lots of people must like it because a similar version was a hit a while back. ( not with me)
I hope he comes back next year and wins.

Lenny Henry is a very gifted actor. Didnt he go for ages not realising he could do it? Or am i muddling him with someone else?

I wonder if Diana Vickers is touring with the show? If so, perhaps us close enough could go and see the matinee?
What was it you saw her in? Little voice?

Hello all

still nice and rainy, but getting very humid

Took AGES to get on to DS today - did anyone else have a problem??

Honey, I think you are right about it being Lenny Henry not realising he was good at acting until quite late.

I wonder if the slowness is due to the fact that we are now on Page 294?

maybe somebody brave should start a new thread??

Do you know what? I think that is a brilliant idea. Then in the opening post we can make it clear what the thread is and that everybody is welcome.

Perhaps we should limp along with this one until BB starts?

Greetings all

Humid and overcast here...

Does anyone know more about the twist for CBB - I think someone mentioned they were thinking of having, um, "normal" people in it as well??
*stifles a yawn
