Haha - No, I do that too. I usually make sure I catch the MTV repeat as well, there's something "cool" about watching it on MTV.

MTV is way too cool for me

I imagine that Michelle feels that Perez is showing the viewing public 'the worst side' of a gay icon??? Obviously I can't read her mind, but she must be aware, especially in the US, of the persisting prejudice against gay people, and thinks that Perez is doing nothing to help the cause. I wouldn't condone homophobia of any kind, anywhere for any reason, but she would be very sensitive to the image P promotes.

But he's not a "gay icon". He's somebody who works in the media, who happens to be gay. His behaviour has nothing to do with his sexual preferences. There is no set way for gay people to behave for a bad side of it to be shown.

Michelle is consistently peddling stereotypes - that is far more offensive than anything that Perez has done. Without sounding too harsh, she is the epitome of everything that is wrong with the "gay community".

I wonder if we're not seeing her saying things to Kav like "Oh my gay brother you shouldn't drink you're harming everything I've worked for"? As she has done to Perez. I also wonder if Kavana's sexuality would come into it if his behaviour was in question, for example if there were more incidents of him drinking & being horrid to people.

Because it seems to me like she is equating some of Perez's more colourful/camp behaviours as part of his sexuality & is frowning upon that, rather than the behaviours being generally disruptive (or just part of his personality). Like I said in a previous post, she's happily joined in the bashing of his dressing up and prancing about, which strikes me as very odd when she's famous for judging just that.

Perhaps she's just an opportunist and fell into the line of work she's in because her own career didn't really take off, rather than actually caring?

Her childhood sounds rather lovely with holidays in the Caribbean. Her nervousness is probably more to do with her recent health problems, hysterectomy and sudden menopause.
She was talking about her medical difficulties on the Phillip Schofield show recently but I wasn't listening to most of it.

What I like about this CBB is that i both like and dislike most of the housemates at the same time, so my allegiances change each day. My most detested on Monday is my favourite on Wednesday.

Apart from Keith. I have liked him solidly all the way through so far.

'Gay icon' bad choice of words, I meant high profile - at least in the US - and gay.

His behaviour would be unacceptable whatever his sexuality, I completely agree.

Judging men appearing as drag queens is one thing, having to live with someone who dresses up for no specific reason AND at the same time is constantly annoying, is different.

Michelle could well have fallen into her current role as her own career was going nowhere, but I wouldn't infer from that she doesn't care. I can't imagine that the people she's involved with would keep offering her work if she wasn't totally committed???

I'm sure I can quite safely say that most of the "gay community" in the UK, aside from a handful of people who remember her flop records in the 80's & the few people who caught the couple of seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race (she has also alluded to the notion that drag queens & gay men are one & the same, which is not necessarily the case) that E4 aired - that the majority do not know who she is.

So I'd really like to know who gave her permission to represent an entire community?

I also don't like the way she appears to be clinging to Katie Hopkins' coat tails & joining in the bashing of Perez for dressing up, prancing around etc. When she's famous for being a judge on a show where people dress up & prance around.

The woman is a repugnant cretin & the sooner she's evicted the better. If she goes a while before Katie Hopkins, I'll bet we see a much softer side to Katie without her cheerleader.

Dislike Michelle all you like but please don't pretend that being gay is not an issue in the UK.

We have (both our countries) come a long way but clearly not far enough. One of the contestants on UTOPIA (not gay) was beaten up 2 days ago because they thought he was gay. People who dismiss this problem are PART of the problem IMNSHO

Gay Icon is the right phrase for Michelle. I only know about her because of my gay friends, I've never seen RuPaul's drag race. She didn't fall into anything, she's worked hard for decades.

Maybe Alicia’s problem was not paying attention so when she was completely focussed during the interview she seemed OK. She did mention several times that her and Katie Price were a similar age. KP is 36.
