Good afternoon.

I’ve done as much as I can and Mr G was able to help me clear the formal dining room (only used at Christmas and I haven’t hosted Christmas for 6 or 7 years) late last night. He’d used it as a dumping ground.

I think its a matter of timing, regarding your mum. You cant very well spring it on her when she thinks he is alive, but it might help if you time it just right.
I dont think anyone can cope with the grief of losing someone over and over again,so my mother was told that my dad was "at the papershop" when she asked where he was.

Thanks, she does know he's gone, and it clicks as soon as you remind her, it doesnt upset her when she is reminded although sometimes she gets upset that she did forget! We have to remind her otherwise she starts insisting he is late home from work or has left her or something and so starts crying over that !

Anyway her poor memory does at least mean whatever upsets her she will soon forget about anyway, so horrible though it sounds you have to sometimes just let her be. Once or twice, when she has been really hysterical and resisted all attempts to placate her, i had to walk out the room before i lost my own temper to draw breath, only for her to come and find me a few minutes later, completely transformed back to normal, with no memory of what just happened and asking would i like a cup of tea!

Hi Barra, yes, they must be so expensive as well, mind you it's 2016 and in Japan drinks are served by a Drone so we aren't too far behind, much.

Hi Gemo, thats ok then, you only need to get her something to put on to protect her clothes from the food.

We get new emotes but can't use them in multi posts as your only allowed 10, are they serious.

why would I want it cooked? i buy hardly any cooked food. * moves the tub of cheese footballs out of sight*

I would lose the apricot and bacon though.

What has happened to food flavourings? brandy and whiskey dont exist any more, though i managed to get a rum after traipsing around every flipping supermarket in Liverpool.
what are people using instead?

You are very wise Barra. It does sound very hard going, but it is surprising what we can cope with if we have to.

I was hoping for the quota to be increased.

I have had a strange day. I went to the doctor and was rushed to hospital. They have hardly any staff and people were wandering around pewking.
I was quite relieved that nobody was there to do the procedure and i was declared stable and sent home before anyone was sick on me.

I have been reading your post about your mum, I didnt read it before my last post but I read it after I posted
My mother had vascular dementia for the last 10 years and over the last five she had been really bad with it
we moved mum and dad into a bungalow oppisite to my house so I could help to get mum ready for the day center because dad just could not manage her but did not want her to go into a home (they had been married for nearly 70 year)
Last year my dad died (aged 90) and over the period of 9 months every morning my mam asked where dad was and I had to explain that he had died
she cried and went to day center and came back happy very forgetfull (and in her mind) 40 yearold, she used to call the daycenter her work and they loved her there
towards the end she didnt know who I was, to mam I was the lady to who cleaned and gave her tablets, breakfast and supper
She died in July aged 93 in the end she just forgot how to swallow and her heart gave out
I never had time to grieve for Dad because of mam and I know it sounds awful but mams passing was a blessing and I didnt grieve for her as I thought I should have until I read your post
Im not ashamed to say I broke down and cried like a baby until today I only remembered the bad things but after my cry I talked to my brother and we both started to talk about the funny things like last christmas when she opened her presents over and over (she must have had christmas ten times over in one day) she oohed and ahhed over every present ten times over and she was very happy and we remembered her flirting with the window cleaner as though she was a teenager (he was very kind and understood)
I wish you all the best with your mum and always remember the good times with her even if its hard to dot forget as I did

sorry if I brought everyone down but just reading that one post helped me think of the love I did once have for my mam and the love she had for me

Good morning you lot. A happy Christmas Eve to all.

Quite a bit of rain yesterday evening but nothing too horrid. Today and tomorrow are forexast to remain dry. Bright and sunny here, about 6c at present, quite windy but not at all bad for the time of year.

Elfy, thanks for the lovely Swedish song links. I really enjoyed the Rudolf one.

Hi Honey.:+)))))))))))))))

I assumed you would want grubs cooked rather than live.:D

Don't follow you on the flavourings, don't you just buy the bottles of spirits and add to the recipe?

If a room is used for junk then when the door is shut it becomes a cupboard doesn't it.:)

Yes, 10 smilies is crazy, it's ok in a single post but in a multi it needs to be about 50.

That was a strange day at hospital, maybe the idea is if you wait long enough you might get better.

Hi Moots, best run your Anti Malware program if you have one or get one to check that nothing has been downloaded onto you hard drive.
It's dodgy clicking on links you don't know, if you can copy a link you can paste it into google and see what comes up.If in doubt don't click links.
