Morning all
![]() 32C and sunny here today ![]() I've pretty much given up on CBB, I don't want to be fed a storyline cooked up by barely adolescent producers, I'd much rather have unadulterated live footage and make up my own mind. *grumble grumble* Chegwin for the win - as he's the only one I don't actively dislike. ![]() Well CBB ends this week so your ok. Have you tried watching the news channel? Cheggers, don't think so, mind you his odds are changing, he's caught Katie H up at 7/4. |

I'll be watching!
![]() I got a bit bored with The Jump yesterday, and gave up. ![]() Why couldn't they have put this on AFTER CBB had finished? Why was Louie Spence so overdoing the campness?Did they show Zara's hubby in a thong and little bolero in the end?

My two favourite programmes...tho I fear for the sanity of Toggle Fiddler, the boy who might just as well appeared for Oxford on his own for all the help he gets from the others.......Mr Brain and I are both in love with Ms Coren!
Lesley Brain I like the connecting wall best. |

Mine, too. I’m pleased Only Connect has moved from 4 to 2.
I like the connecting wall best. Are you any good at it? I am amazed that I do so well in that programme...is it something to do with having been an 11-plus generation, I wonder? And I get better at UC when we get to the later rounds when Jeremy says the questions are 'harder', which I don't find at all. Of course the winner in this is always Mr Brain. Jeremy asks the question. I answer. The student answers. Jeremy gives the right answer. Mr Brain gives the right answer (tho sometimes he can still give the wrong answer). Mr Brain declares himself The Winner. Though he is yet to get an architectural question right. These are the joys of quizzes. ![]() Lesley Brain |

![]() Lesley Brain I was listening to this report yesterday. Pupils expected to know their 12x table when the leave school at 11, I was expected to know them when I was 6. As for Education Secretary Nicky Morgan said pupils aged 11 should also know correct punctuation, spelling and grammar., maybe they should start by tackling some of the advertising agencies. |

Just read that Emma is quitting BOTS - her last one tonight, then its all Rylan. Its apparently to much for her with all her other shows. She is continuing with the main shows by the way, its just BOTS she's leaving. It seems Rylan will continue hosting BOTS solo in the summer but thats not confirmed yet.

Not to bad at the wall. I get quite a few of the University Challenge ones, not the convoluted physics and maths ones, though, unless I blurt out the name of a law or a formula and it happens to be the right one.

My grand-daughter has moved from a small state school to a private school. Both are in the same area with the same catchment. The superiority of the private school teaching is a scandal. It is much more structured, memory based, result orientated...and more professional. With such a dramatic difference in an affluent area I dread to think what the disparity must be like nationally. I have a personal dislike of privilege through cash, and I would have thought that keeping bright children in the state system should benefit everyone, but it would mean that a child was severely disadvantaged educationally.......I am glad my children are nearly 50 and I don't have to concern myself with this conundrum.

Hello peeps
a pinch and a punch for the first of the month nix February is going to be much much better than January. It surely can't be worse.. He would rather shiver and gaze at me pathetically from under his eyelashes than wear any sort of clothing in the freezing weather. He is an expert divester of clothing but he couldn't get out of this coat. I took pity on him, silly old fool that Iam! He is starkers again. My carpets are ruined, from washing with a carpet washer every 2 weeks (I think the underlay has rotted but I don't dare look ) so I have been forced to cover them up with a massive series of vet beds lying on top of newspaper. I can at least change the newspaper and wash the vet beds once a week.. I don't see the point of getting new carpets just for them to be weed on.I've sent you the photo from my aol account, as I can't send anything from my phone with the virtually absent signal here. . I was steaming my rugs but unfortunately the polti was the second casualty of the le creuset wok falling. After my head it landed on the polti and it hasnt worked since. There cant be much wrong with it but i havent got round to finding out yet. I have heard that the lakeland steam mop is very good. Quote:
I think Ken was actually quoting from something and it was taken out of context as well.
If you had a choice between watching the two of them, would you rather have Ken or Perez?? On reflection I think I would rather have Perez, mainly because a lot of his screen time is filmed with him on his own and can be fast forwarded.. Quote:
Still liking Katie H, sorry Bella. I would NOT like her as a friend however..
Quote:
FFS - Perez has found his experience 'traumatic' - really???
He clearly lays all the blame for this trauma at the door of KH. Whether he believes what he's saying or whether it's for effect, I can find not a single ounce of compassion for him - what a nob. Quote:
was he, um, intoxicated??

Ah yes, the shopping trolley was poor old Arthur's fave too, as well as chair legs, although not the ones he had chewed chunks out of
![]() ![]() Quote:
hello jojo
i'd say more dramatic than traumatic he seems to forget the way he behaved the first 10 days running rough shod over most of the hms not sure he has any self awareness or even if he cared about the way he upset people on tonights show he went to the same place to have a cry as he did the first time he heard the crowd boo him the way he feels has been self inflicted and like you i don't feel sorry for him steps down off my soap box loQuote:

Lesley Brain How can it go so wrong for some? Quote:
Oh dear, do like Emma, disappointed if i have to put up with Rylan, think he's awful, he just advertises himself, a bit like Perez, a me me man.
The Rylan show, hope no, they stopped his other shows, wish they would take him off the air. It cheapens the main show, and if we wanted obscenity there are a thousand channels with more of it.

The housemates are very tolerant of Katy Hopkins's drivel.
I am afraid that if i was there I would be rampantly not believing in epilepsy for spite.

So a letter from home was an abstract from If (Rudyard Kipling).

It's probably a better passage than if she wrote it herself.
I shall go and look for the collected poems of Angie Best so I can just make sure. |

Still catching up after watching University Challenge and- best programme of the week- Only Connect. We love the wall and generally get it, VC is wonderful!
I doubt we will get to the end of CBB tonight as it finishes at 1 am so I will just have to contain myself. I'm running away now in case I inadvertently see who is evicted.... |

Evening all - haven't seen the show tonight yet but it's very amusing reading all the comments!
I love Only Connect and have always watched Uni Challenge - I love Paxman, strangely as he's the kind of man I would normally loathe! VC is brilliant, I agree. Hunky I'm still with you on Perez - whether his tears are real or otherwise, he deserves everything he gets - and I'm not a cruel or vindictive woman, in real life! |

Lesley Brain For my money, the secret is in the quality of the teaching staff. I experienced it myself, attending a very old school all girl's grammar school in the 60s and I've seen the same pattern in my own children. The building can be falling apart, the sport's field non existent, no state of the art theatre, but if the teaching is good, children of all abilities will shine. |
