Was wondering if it would pay to take a few lessons to be able to do the grooming yourself, wouldn't it be worth it?

I wish someone could come round and completely blunt Spidey and Ringo's claws. Especially Ringo, because he keeps getting stuck to things. I came home once and Ringo appeared to be waving at me in the window but it turned out he was hanging on the curtain by his claws!

We growl in our house too. Sometimes at each other.

It isn't very easy to trim claws because one slip can injure them badly and they tend to wriggle and squeal.

Never mind the hair, What's that on Cheryl Fernandes -Versini's back? Is it just a large mole or is this a new fashion in back decoration?

would it be too much to get some training, the cost saving surely would be worth it.

I feel sick just looking at the dog, the childs parents are in a dream world, if something goes wrong, and it will they will be charged with pure stupidity.

That is a disaster waiting to happen, one day the dog will revert back to being a Pit Bull
with devastating consequences.

Evening all - good grief Honey, that's not a dog, it's a small pony Surely that can't be right???

I imagine the reason that Moots gets the groomer to come to her home is that she has so many babies! It would mean one trip for each dog - she'd be forever on the bus

Since we moved I've had a groomer who advertised locally, to come here to do Millie, but I'm not sure she was very experienced with retrievers, I didn't like the 'look'. OH took her to the groomer at Pets at Home a couple of weeks ago and it was a better result, but I think I'll have to go back to the original lady - she always did a great job and she knows what I like.

I wouldn't try to trim a dog's claws, very easy to cut too far.

I like the hair, or what you can see of it, but her back looks odd all over - looks as though she was leaning against something - chocolate???

Excellent idea Hicky, but disability makes this impossible..

I phoned the boss of the groomer today. Apparently she put the appointment down for Thursday, but wrote Monday 2nd on the card they leave after every appointment. Hmmmm.I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to get Zachary's long hair cut very short this year, as he deffo felt the heat last summer. He might look quite cute with a Westie cut!

She's fine thanks, JoJo. She had problems last time she was in season so she is being neutered on Friday.

I agree too. Letting the child ride the dog is cruel to both and asking for trouble.

Our doctor's receptionist has exactly the same problem as your groomer. She says one date and writes down another and gets sniffy when you turn up either days early or late. I make her sign the appointment card now. She is not pleased.

It has never occurred to me to do anything but leave the hounds fur natural. If they get hot, tough! How do you know the weather wont turn icy just after they get a skinhead cut?

Morning all

Sorry Honey I thought she had the op last Friday, not this one,

No child should ever be allowed to 'ride' on a dog. We have taken photos of the babies 'sitting' on Millie's back, but the weight was taken by the adult holding the baby, and the babies were far too young to remember.

Bright and sunny here this morning - for the moment.

I can understand and sympathise when people commit murder because they have a mental illness, or a spur of the moment situation perhaps, but I cant for the life of me see how other people can coldbloodedly cover up for them.
We dont yet know what happened in the Becky Watts case, but surely to goodness all those people cant be involved?

That is very different, and your Millie is a safe breed. When I was little my dog and me took turns to ride each others backs while swimming in the sea. It doesn't seem very safe looking back.

I've no idea but having to deal with someone being killed and that the killer was someone you know is a double blow impossible to imagine

that is true Honey, but at least Zaccy and Emily will agree to wear pullovers. However I am going to take your advice and just get the fluffy bits trimmed.

Good luck for Friday! I shall be thinking of you and sending loads of positive vibes your way... How old is Pippin? My Amy-Louise is fine now! The worst bit is hanging around waiting for the op to be overrrrr.

I am very relieved that Amy-Louise is doing well. The way they described it at the vet was as if Pippin would be an invalid for ten days but i suppose they give the worst case scenario?
I have made a holy show of myself every time one of the pets has had an op before so I am determined to pull myself together this time and look like a normal person.

Hi Honey.:+))))))))))))))))))))))))

No, it's a dog, it's not it's looks, it's an animal, it's something that needs more looking after than a child sometimes, each animal cost the family about £16,000 during it's life, surely that could be better spent.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/p...st-by-500.html

It probably means the family is really losing out.

Amy is completely back to normal! She had a bit of a cough on Sunday, and some diarrhoea, but the latter was from the Loxicom they prescribe as a painkiller.
