I used to eat 4 of those flat top mushrooms, peeled and baked upside down in the oven at 180C for supper in my anorexic days. They are surprisingly nutritious and quite filling, and very low calorie,

I thought maybe she only picked him because she wanted one of the other 2 on her team to win Is it up to us next week?

It would have been my ex's birthday today, so we all feel sad as well as happy that it's MD.

I like those large mushrooms - I've done them as a starter, filled with crab meat, yummy. I always thought they had no nutrients in them at all, it's only very recently that I've learned differently.

What we do on "sad" days is celebrate it for them, so because my Dad always had pick and mix on his birthday we have it "for him" and it helps.

I don't know about pre-meds but i went to a 3 hr school session a couple of weeks ago..

Mushrooms are like a lot of veg, you don't really need to cook them, like onions, carrots, cucumber, peas.

Well, no, we dont actually NEED to cook them unless its dried kidney beans or something but i bet you don't chuck raw onions on top of your rendang!

No, not raw, but i only add a few chopped onions later after the meat is cooked as i want the onions just blanched, a bit like the way the Chinese do them, 1 minute in a wok in hot oil, they certainly don't cook.

Must tell you this:
We decided to go for brekkie at the hospital i've got to report to, to check which entrance to use etc as it will 7am in the morning.

Got to the hospital, it seemed pretty quiet when we headed down the road towards the main entrance, as we approached we noticed the lack of cars or persons anywhere, all the car parks were empty, when we got to the main entrance and passed the main attached restaurant we noticed it was shut, so were the car parks and the hospital, imagine the shock, never saw a soul, turned round and had to head off somewhere else for brekkie.

Good grief! So if a patient doesn't want a single pullets egg for breakfast they cant just nip to the restaurant then? I imagined them to be open all the time. Mind you, I have noticed that if you cant stomach the overflowing toilets and needles on the floor in A&E and go to a different part of the building the toilets are all shut after five.

In Aintree hospital (i think i might have mentioned this before) they close the restaurant at about two o clock and after that only the quickest ten people can fit in the teeny tiny bistro, and half of them have to climb up giant barstools.

There is another cafe there that shuts even earlier. It is very odd.

Did you find somewhere you can park on the day? Do you go in the day before the op then?

Hi Honey, i was shocked to find the whole complex deserted, there is another section somewhere which is the Cancer wards.
didn't realise they only have clinics there which open during the week i suppose, maybe the place would open later on for visitors to the wards.

My O/H is going to drop me off at 6.45 in the morning of the Op, she won't need to park as it's £2.50 to get out of the car park.

As far as I know the café at our local hospital stays open until 5pm - I've never been there later than that. My brothers sat with my dad when he was dying and they were brought cups of tea by the nurses - as if they don't have enough to do. I bet the café was closed, it was 2am when they left the hospital. My dad wouldn't have cared one way or the other - he hated hospitals.

I remembered how good the food was when i was attending the hospital many years ago, probably for X-Rays or something, the food then was very cheap and very good, self service.
Imagine the shock to find everywhere closed, not even a living soul or even a car in any car park.
We often have brekkie out somewhere on a Sunday.

I hope they feed you well or that Mrs (Saint) Hicky brings in food parcels - you'll never get well on rubbish food.

The restaurant that i was going to have brekkie in was the attached one that anyone can use, i had a meal in there last month when i went for my pre-op schooling with many different nurses during multiple tests.
The internal food is pretty standard, mind you i eat anything but have often complained about the way the food ends up considering how it starts off.
I asked once if instead of the offerings shown i could just have some cheese a piece of ham and a tomato with a round of bread, do you know what they said, they said, if i wanted special food like that i would have to have special dietary needs.

My O/H would bring in food if allowed anyway so it's not really a problem, not sure if i would be allowed out to the restaurant just after the op.

The weather wasn't too bad, did have a very heavy rain/hail shower at one time.

Got a water bill in, we are on a meter, they said we had used 23,000 litres (23 cubic Metres), how on earth could you uses that,t's 5,111.1 gallon or 121 of my 190 litre water butts full.

I think shutting everything early is a recent thing. Costcutting i suppose. It is very awkward at night if you are in A & E because they only have drinks in machines and everyone runs out of change.
Last time we were in there some kind nurses saved us with tea and biscuits.

I had a vision of Mrs (saint) Hicky dragging a whole cow and a sheep onto the ward!


But you have only been in it five minutes. How does that transfer to money? Are you sure you havent been charged for the previous occupants?

Water costs about £2.04p per Cubic Metre, Water & Sewage costs about £5.50 per cubic meter.
So that times 23 comes to £126.

We gave them a meter reading when we moved in, and they took one a few days ago.
