Strange that i never had any pain at all, even the day i got back to the ward, just a nagging ache.
Had more pain having a tooth out.

I suppose it all depends on where the nerves and pain receptors are? They say a stab in the kidneys is less painful than a scratch on the fingertip.

I'm always very sceptical when people say they have spat whatever all over the keyboard, but I almost did when I read the above:o

I thought it was a load of hoo hah which will have cost the taxpayer money, just to bury a few bones which may have belonged to an ancient King. I fear I am becoming curmudgeonly in my old age:D

Keep on top of the pain Hicky that's the secret, as Moots said. My dad learned the hard way, didn't think he needed the pain meds and ended up in agony - then it takes more to get back to feeling comfortable. Same with the waterworks, but that sorted itself out too, just takes a bit of time - and he was quite a few years older than you are now. He didn't have a hip replacement, he broke his sternum and several ribs, well known for being extremely painful.

Boss just rang to see how i am and can i do a little job for him.
It's only listing the binary state of decimal numbers 1 to 76.
He has a job and needs to read the decimal value using input sensors.

Weather is reasonable for time of year.

He could do a conversion, but he wants pieces of paper with the 7 holes shown and he wants the holes filled in when it will have a bolt head that a proximity switch sensor can read for every plate that will be drilled and bolted to the 76 overhead trolleys.
When the trolley pulls into a station the code sensors will read the binary state of the 7 bolts which will tell the control system the number of the trolley. at the station. which will be between 1 and 76.

I've done it now, it's no problem to me.

It's just a guess, but I imagine Moots is as confused as I am about 'the binary system'!

It was never mentioned while I was at school, not even a casual reference and I bet it was the same for Moots. I can across it later and had no clue - still don't! I know vaguely what it is but, I also know what particle physics is - couldn't work with either You're a man ahead of your time and I guess you needed to understand the binary system for your work.

Even my Sharp Scientific calculator EL-506P that i have had in my pocket for more years than i care to remember has a key to convert a value to BIN, OCT, HEX or DEC.

All data is stored in one of these 4 methods.

I used to design control systems using Octal, it's mainly Hex now with Binary for individual bit control.
A Hex Data word is 16 bits of Binary, HEX 'F' is binary bits 0 to 15.

With 7 data bits a value of 1 to 127 can be detected..
Each bit represents a value in binary.
bit value
1 = 1
2 = 2
3 = 4
4 = 8
5 = 16
6 = 32
7 = 64
