Totally agree with that Edward Skylover. Love Freak, great to see she's performing it as part of her live set now too, its just such an evocative number. I do wonder if some of the kids realise the phrasing of "Freak" is ghetto slang for a saucy sexy lady - google Rick James classic track Super Freak for the inspiration for this.
Bit of news on the latest Lana videos: It took its time but the full Honeymoon video has now leaked: http://www.nme.com/news/lana-del-rey/94795 Clearly unfinished and Lana didn't initially release it due to concerns not enough happened in it, but I actually think its strangely good and great to see it at last. Its similar to her Lizzy Grant era home made vids. Also; she is currently shooting her next video: http://lanadelreyfan.com/lana-del-re...deo-next-week/ Now I am guessing this won’t be for a Honeymoon track but the lead single of the next album? |

So Lana played a couple of concerts, at a Belgium and Russian music festival. Now the response of some fans is yeah its nice that Lana is good at singing live now and what-not, but really its not like she does anything different in these shows, seen it all before. Perhaps as a response to this we have:
She's added 60's girl group style backing singers/dancers!!! Look at them pull moves whilst she sings Lolita !!!:http://popcrush.com/lana-del-rey-dan...oncert-lolita/ More cool moves whilst she performs Off To The Races too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZe-ECxNFFs What's that? "Oh how terrible pop and naff" sneers Mr Pretentious old git out there. "Its not like she's a proper act that plays her own instruments and sings at the same time like proper dad rock does." Yeah? She only just went and played her Lizzy Grant era classic Yayo all by herself on no less than a "flying V" electric guitar and ooo I wanted the crowd to shut up and not drown her out because it was so beautiful, vocals to die for and her playing was spot on too, she's actually a very good folk guitar player IMO (I say that as someone who plays guitar so I know OK ): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4voUFswPYeQ Heres one that's snippets of the full Russian show. Honeymoon is now part or the live set too and its just wonderful (it starts at 2:53): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA2t2_uwUrA And heres a bit of Freak (pisses me off nobody ever seems to film the full song or its always low quality footage ho-hum): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DEJe51URhg F----lipping hell, all in all, majestic stuff! Good to see her on form and getting some decent promotion done for Honeymoon showing that she hasn't dropped it. Brilliant! |

Just add to that...
The whole Russian Concert in superb quality, well worth a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2CZaPH72KU Plus this vid of her playing guitar from her instagram, love the light show whilst she is playing: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHtYttxD...-by=lanadelrey I normally don't put links to Lana's instagram cause I regard it as her secret fan zone. But oh what the hell, I can't resist putting a link this song she posted this video of month ago. Its yet another unreleased song she apparently wrote years ago called Cherry Blossom. Just her singing it a capella and the song is beautiful: https://www.instagram.com/p/BG0BefAF...-by=lanadelrey |

Whatever anyone thinks of the Daily Mail, darn they always seem to get the best picture spreads of Lana. These are some shots from her latest festival appearance at Les Vieilles Charrues Festival in Carhaix, France on Sunday: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...-festival.html More photos from the fansites: http://lanadelreyfan.com/gallery/thu...php?album=1359 The latest interview: http://lanadelreyfan.com/lana-del-re...ew-with-blick/ Excerpt: Quote:
BLICK: You rarely give interviews. Why?
LANA: Because I have been misunderstood in the past too often. I prefer to let the music speak for me and I hope it will tell you more than I could with my personal opinions. You used to be really nervous during performances? Is that still true today? Not anymore. My life revolves around music so concerts feel very natural now. |

Something for the weekend; Lana's concert in Greece. Looks like she has fun playing the show and she was channelling a bit of famous Greek singer Nana Mouskouri in her dress sense.
Serial Killer, listen to her orgasm at 3:10 much to rapture of the audience!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF2B3BcTIQ0 Indeed somebody has just uploaded a vid of the moan itself !https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRk-WvZh7DQ She even ended up mischievously Twerking with her dancers doing in Lolita :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_r4EIjPtHg Possibly best live version of High By The Beach yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WMRIry346A I'm still loving seeing her play Yayo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV42fuFLtd8 What would a Lana show be without Blue Jeans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gINFA_8yB30 And Video Games https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMATw-v62IQ Only downer is it does appear some idiot crazed fan grabbed her hair, stealing part of that lovely gold crown she was wearing. I think its adorable how Lana goes down into the audience to meet fans but mmm particularly after having problems with stalkers maybe time to be a bit more careful about doing it now. Or at least have more security. Other than that it appears to have been another great show . I understand she is plays Monaco tonight at The Red Cross Ball- a show for the rich with the very, very expensive tickets proceeds going to charity.

Another leaked song; Super Movie. It appears to be an earlier version or reworking of another of her best loved leaked unrealeased songs On Our Way.
http://www.nme.com/news/lana-del-rey/95248 We even have a homemade video that has the song in better quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfU-BND2pbo |

OK she's played Europe- now the US. Lana is getting very positive reviews for her performance at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago: http://www.billboard.com/articles/co...-chance-rapper Quote:
It's amazing to think that an artist whose first national live performance was a pitchy disaster (remember her lambasted Saturday Night Live appearance in 2012?) has become one of the most vocally reliable and visually compelling live acts on the festival circuit. Lana has mastered the art of her stage show -- every backdrop and movement subtly conveys the coquettish '50s/early '60s Americana her music is drenched in.
With ruffled red drapes framing her video backdrop, Lana stood between two decorative trees on stage, frequently flanked by supporting dancers in white whose moves matched her own -- it almost gave the impression you were watching her in a Rat Pack-approved hotel lobby instead of downtown Chicago. The fluorescent lights beaming her surname, rendered in kitschy diner cursive, to her fans gave the stage an additional flavor of Googie architecture, emphasizing the old Hollywood/early Vegas imagery that's become her go-to. (Naturally, while 99 percent of festival artists use color video screens to reach the crowds in the back, Lana's were presented in elegant black & white.) After an exhilarating "Born to Die" early in her set, Lana disappeared from the stage for a moment. Costume change? Nope. She was down in the front row, posing for selfies with fans, signing copies of her album and flashing that rare, but warm, LDR smile. Del Rey has mastered the tricky art of making slow music captivating in a live setting -- an especially difficult feat at a festival, where the crowds can flee to another artist at any moment. A hot desert sun smoldered on the screen behind her as she sang "Honeymoon," backup dancers joined her for some synchronized moves on "High By the Beach," she executed a booty drop on "Lolita" (the crowd went bonkers) and even busted out a guitar for "Yayo," which was originally released when she was Lizzy Grant back in 2008. After closing with "Video Games" and "Off to the Races," Lana once again descended into the crowd for more selfies and signings. Lana del Rey might be icy and detached, but Lizzy Grant -- who plugged away for years before finally breaking through as Lana del Rey -- revels in the fans who make her what she is. |

More great reviews coming in of her latest concert at the Osheaga festival in Montreal, Canada: http://montrealgazette.com/entertain...s-leading-lady Like this bit: Quote:
Del Rey heard someone in the crowd yelp something. “Chelsea Hotel, you mean?” And here's a clip of that moment:Pause. And then, casually asking the fan out there to prompt her once or twice, she sang Leonard Cohen a cappella, and you were in the presence of a fusion of genuine noir pop and concept performance art. And therefore, a kind of greatness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrpf0GvaaNY Quote:
Smokey-voiced, she also trilled and cooed, and for all the hothouse quality of that singing, it’s better than you’d credit. She delivered like every song was a Lynchian dream sequence before someone gets artfully whacked in shmancy retro clothes; or the heroine drifts into her eternal barbiturate nap. Summertime Sadness sounded like The Carpenters under a billion-ton minor key made of Quaaludes. Amazing. Born to Die with those fireworks in the background:But every wave of her hand drew shrieks. “Been waiting for a long time to get here,” she said of Montreal. “Not so far, really, from where I grew up.” True, Elizabeth Grant of Lake Placid. “It’s amazing to hear you sing along to the words.” And they did, not that it knocked her off her woozy focus. Honeymoon and High By the Beach were accompanied by the final night of the La Ronde fireworks competition, a perfect L.A. gauze-fantasy. But as the world was ending by pyro in the sky over La Ronde to her left and she was, like, whatevs. Which doesn’t mean she wasn’t engaged. After Yayo (simple and gorgeous, solo on Flying V) and Video Games, she slo-o-owly descended to meet the crowd and spent five minutes taking smiling selfies. It was charmingly odd and vice versa. The encore of Off to the Races had her in a barely mobile shuffle with her backing vocalists and after that inescapably hooky chorus, she floated off with a kiss goodbye. The bad girl of the songs was an oddly undeniable heroine. And if that was an L.A. script, Osheaga just earned its strangest Oscar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSE0m5iwHKA |

Just when you thought every single unreleased Lana Del Rey song had leaked onto the web...another one comes along. Its about sexting, and turns out to be quite a cute fun little pop tune:
http://observer.com/2016/08/lana-del...rry-messenger/ On and her last concert in San Francisco at the Outside Lands festival seems to have gone done very well indeed. Here's a bit of Cola: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRRO3xZNfHM Summertime Sadness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVA46aBi3QY Lolita https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz1Up1MyQeM High By The Beach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHTSVDIjy-I Honeymoon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJBol4VeL2I And Off To The Races: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOiqdG_UsF4 |

Another weekend, another triumphant Lana Del Rey festival performance. This time at Ohana's Dana Point festival. Here's yet another positive review: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/r...ge-sunday.html Now her rather wonderful Honeymoon track Freak seems to have been dropped from the set list which I always thought was a massive shame. Guess it wasn't getting a good enough response from some people. But this audience weren't having that, they shouted out requesting it and she obliged: Quote:
(Lana) "You are right; we are in California; it was only right."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3J-51Kb88TQGood quality video and a cracking performance of the tune and listen to the crowd singing along at the end. I don't care if its just me and the population of California that get that song, it should always be in the set .Edit: Can't resist adding this very dramatic rendition of Honeymoon too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CLlw8ju_dQ |

Lana's final festival appearance of the summer: The Electric Picnic in Ireland. Hardcore fans may have already seen this but she put out an Instagram video after the show thanking them. This news story from the Irish Independent has got her video message + shots of the show: http://www.independent.ie/entertainm...-35021894.html Quote:
I had the most amazing show in Ireland and I hope that you enjoyed it,” she said. Ireland -she bloody loves you! “I just loved the crowd and we made it through the rain.” “I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ and hopefully see you soon.” Ahead of this weekend's festival, organiser Melvin Benn described securing Lana Del Rey for a headline act as a real coup. Lana Del Rey is a huge name and a significantly better performer than people give her credit for. That was a real coup," he said. ![]() Also I believe Mr Melvin Benn runs a number of British festivals too. OK the still very rawk/metal Reading/Leeds crowd might not be such a good fit for her but get her on at one of your other festivals next year Mr Benn please! To sum up all these concerts she's played its been good to see Lana back on form again live and I hope it gives her some confidence going forward with the next album. |

Yet more leaked songs from her past recording sessions. Still blows me away how many of these tracks there are and the quality of them.:
Resistance (Very 60's): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2imzvNQhKbk Cherry Blossom (Beautiful): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4SuXZIYwlw Roses (Bangin' upbeat song!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k33bBSoyIcw Live or Die (Ditto, who said she can't do upbeat?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYtwFf7-FCU Girl That Got Away (cute 50's/60's grove): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt4QkOHC5Kw Motel 6 (ditto) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWtkRF93Y7w Caught You Boy (more lovely retro vibe): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riF28zBAfTY Dance For Money (finger picked acoustic): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpCz4CkMPS8 3 Years (Your Girl) (moody snippets of this tune): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=838zulVYGi8 And OK this one leaked a long time ago but couldn't resist putting it in, a quicker version of Angels Forever, Forever Angels (she so should have put it on Ultraviolence): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MDvLgLCQvE Plus we now have a demo version of Children of a Bad Revolution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6hd5YOo9UQ There you go another albums worth of songs! |

Humour. The NME gives us 19 Lana Del Rey Gifs That Accurately Sum Up Your Life: http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/2...m-up-your-life Plus spot the difference. A Norwegian pop act called Dagny has released an EP called "Ultraviolet" that bares more than a passing resemblance to Lana's own album artwork: http://www.nme.com/news/lana-del-rey/96430 Quote:
Dagny has since provided a response to NME, saying: "It wasn't intentional but I really like Lana! It was a spur of the moment photo that we took on tour and I felt like it captured the EP, so I wanted to use it as the artwork."
Always good to see Lana has been influential .

I'm a bit of a music obsessive me, don't just listen to it I play it too. I got all the toys, guitars, keys, synths. Just went and stumbled across this interview with Grimes on the Ableton website. They make DJ and recording software if you were wondering. Its a technical article about what gear she uses and how she records ...so it will probably go over most peoples heads...here's a snippet: https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/grim...ntists-drills/ Quote:
For the song “Venus Fly", for example, I had these awesome 808s, that I built using two different 808 sounds. Then I sampled a dentist drill and tuned it to the 808s and layered it very lightly on top so that they sounded a bit more savage but also wide and clean cuz I think I panned the drill hard and the 808s were mono in the center.
So err yeah.... you all say. Why the hell are you linking this technobabble you ask? Cause Grimes also says:Quote:
I love the production on the new Lana Del Rey album, Honeymoon. Specifically the song "Art Deco". I like how it sounds old but new. I also love the song “BBHMM” by Rihanna. I feel like both Rihanna and Lana are often able to create compelling pop songs with really wet vocals. I kind of hate dry vocals, but they are so essential to solid pop songs in most people's minds.
All I can say is Grimes has very good taste .

New Lana Del Rey material coming out soon?: https://mic.com/articles/158622/lana...bout-wild-side Quote:
Earlier this week, Elizabeth Grant, Del Rey's real name, added a new song credit to the ACE Repertory, a directory of songwriting and composition credits for U.S. artists. Also: I like how she recently encouraged her fanbase to watch the US Presidential Election and vote. Also liked that she didn't tell her fans which way to vote, just told them to watch and make their own decision. After all the Brexit farce in the UK I found that quite refreshing. Titled "Wild Side," the song features contributions from Greg Banks, a rising singer-songwriter out of New Orleans. It's the first sign of new music out of the Del Rey camp since 2015's Honeymoon, which showed her heading even deeper into her California goth sound. The title alone suggests she is looking to dig further into this dark, wild half of her meticulously crafted noir persona. Yet, of course, with Del Rey, it's always safest to expect the unexpected. I honestly think all the rich celebs and luvies over here that dictated to people how they should vote like they were idiots had a totally counter-productive effect and only succeeded in agitating the working class to vote leave. Lana's message to her young fans of watch and make your own mind up is a lot more inspiring and I hope they will vote to make a difference .

Trump wins, the world seems to spin further into chaos....but at least we've got Lana Del Rey's music to get through it all.
So the last LDR concert of the year: Mexico's Corona Capital Festival. Good time to play there before the charming Mr Trump attempts to build his wall...Looks like it was a great concert and the Mexican fans clearly loved her. She treated them to a rare performance of her Ultra Violence classic Old Money: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oSudON8TYw Whilst I'm linking UV tracks lets have some Cruel World: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5z3udRRUJs And I can't resist Summertime Sadness either just because it amused me that its the guy in the mixing booth filming it on his phone. Can't blame him :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pusagBQVfBg And just for anybody that hasn't yet heard: Lana has collaborated with The Weeknd on his much anticipated new album; Starboy. Her plus the likes of Daft Punk- all my fave artists of the moment on the same record. She's a Motherflippin' Stargirl . Plus: I loved the fact that she made a very moving tribute to the late great Leonard Cohen on her Instagram page. Aside from her cover of Hotel Chelsea No.2 if you look through her Lizzy Grant era interviews she can see her talking about him back then. She was clearly a massive fan. |

dragons lance, like your painting music to social life events.
I do hope Lana releases an album with more uptempo and Not dance music - Not motown - just upbeat 50s pop Nancy style and very Lana of some of those greta unreleased tracks along with a touch of the dark ethereal. |

I honestly don't mind what genre or whether it is happy/upbeat or dark/slow or a bit of both as long as they are great songs and retain the unique Lana sound. I've loved the fact that all of her albums sound distinctively Lana, yet each have a different "flavour" to them. Its interesting that this rumoured track Wild Side has a producer she hasn't worked with before, so it suggests she's maybe trying something a little different again. Also-more from the Mexico show: She did a little blast of a capella Art Deco for the Mexican fans (and Makson of course ). She mentions something about a video as well, think that is just her been playful with the fans (or does she mean her new video for her next single):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AxP9qxmGcU And some photos off the fansites: http://lanadelreyfan.com/concert-cor...o-november-20/ |
