Anyone listened to the leak yet?

No I refuse to listen to low quality recordings recorded off a phone

It's getting to the point where if an artist gets to within a week of their album launch without a leak, they should just release it right then and there.

New album is boring, all the songs sound the same and dreary.

This is coming from a huge Lana fanboy, it's not a bad album it's just boring.

*sigh*

Perhaps you will feel differently when you hear HQ recordings of the songs.

You can just imagine the scene at Interscope, every precaution taken to make sure there is no chance of any leaks. Masters no doubt kept on PC's not connected to the web to prevent hacking. Then a marketing exec walks in and proudly announces he's just sent copies out to every Urban Outfitters branch in the US weeks ahead of release.

The reaction in the room at that stage was no doubt something like this:

Gosh Interscope are clever. Anyway, I'm not listening to muddy camera phone recordings either, I'll wait for the real thing.

Yeah, the leak online isnt good. You can hear people in the background talking during many of the songs. I am shocked people got away with recording the album to be honest, as it was a private event.

Obviously we have to wait and see what the proper release sounds like but this is a trap I feared she would fall into and that I thought Ultraviolence suffered from.

Salvatore is just sublime....I feel Lana is at her best when she is doing these atmospheric, cinematic songs that you can easily visualise.

Art Deco shoots straight into my top 5 Lana songs ever.

What are your other favourites? I just want to gauge whether our Lana tastes are similar.

As of now I would rank these 5 songs as my favourite from Honeymoon;

1. Art Deco
2. Music To Watch Boys To
3. Salvatore
4. Freak
5. High By The Beach

The Blackest Day seems to be somewhat of a fan favourite already but I'm not really feeling it.....reminds me of the grown up sister of Dark Paradise which I never liked either.

24 is nice enough but I think it might plod a little bit.

I haven't heard Religion yet as I want to keep one surprise track for the official release

EDIT:
Oops sorry, I see you meant of "all time Lana songs"

In that case;

1. Blue Jeans (the track that immediately made me a massive fan)
2. West Coast (I appreciate this song more now than I did last year when it came out)
3. Summertime Sadness (never forget the goosebumps I got when first heard this and knowing straight away it would become a signature song of hers)
4. Ultraviolence (just classic Lana for me)
5. Art Deco (this song is the perfect marriage of Born To Die and Ultraviolence sounds, and already sounds like a classic Lana song to me).

I am not feeling album yet. UV was a slow grower to be fair.

It's a really nice cohesive body of work. I feel I will really appreciate this album after alot more listens over an extended period of time.

'Ultraviolence' for me is her best album and one of my favourite all time albums, which is odd considering how rare it is a new album sounds that good for me to feel that way.

'Born To Die' has some great tracks but I just find the style of quite a few songs to not be to my taste. 'Paradise' I did like alot though.

Born To Die

1 Summertime Sadness
2 Born To Die
3 Blue Jeans
4 Video Games

Paradise

Like them all equally except Cola and Burning Desire

Ultraviolence
1 Brooklyn Baby
2 Money Power Glory
3 ****ed My Way Up To The Top
4 Pretty When You Cry
5 Old Money
6 Shades Of Cool

Honeymoon

1 The Blackest Day
2 Salvatore
3 Art Deco
4 Religion
5 Terrence Loves You
6 Freak

Is there anything vaguely uptempo on the album?

Nope but I still find it better than Ultraviolence.

Just listened to most of this on the way to work. Firstly let me say this is not an album to drive to when your feeling tired, it practically sent me to sleep at the wheel.

To be honest I need more time to digest the album, but my God is people were complaining that the tone of UV was a bit samey - this feels worst for that. All the tracks I've heard so far are delivered in the same languid tones - musically and vocally. Surprisingly it feel a lot more like UV than BTD - however it lacks the guitar flourishes that Dan brought to UV which is a shame.

Repeated plays with reveal if theres a hidden beauty to it or if it's just pure monotone.

Just got back from HMV, so excited to listen, my friend listened to the leak and said he felt like he'd had a deep spiritual awakening after listening LOL.

I'm listening to the album at the moment. I'm only on the second track so far. I still listen to The Paradise edition of BTD more than Ultraviolence but I do like the latter. It's in my car so I'll listen to it a lot more.

Gonna stream Honeymoon for a while before buying it. I'm trying to cut back on the amount of CDs that I'm buying. I buy so many and then I only listen to them once or twice.

Just listened to the whole thing and feeling very disappointed. All songs sound quite similar, very slow.

Finally started listening, only on track 2 but track 1 (Honeymoon) was stunning.

EDIT - Now on track 5, loving it so far. Very stunning in terms of melody and vocal delivery.

Only had one listen so far last night and I ended up skipping a couple of songs to go to bed. She's stuck in a serious rut of doing the same song over and over. Get back to Ride, Cola and songs like that.

Half way through the album, bit of a slow start but does start to pick up. I think this may take a couple of listens much like Ultraviolence, which turned out to be one of my favourite albums of last year.
