I got my S5 a week ago now and I am not overly impressed. When I signed into my Google account it never auto installed my apps and I still haven't got around to it so only minimum apps installed, I have installed Clean Master and its constantly reporting slowness and to boost etc. Put it this way when I press the home button the home screen redraws most of the time, I had similar issues on my old Moto G, ram usage was nearly always full and its the same with the S5. Every thing seems slower than my Moto G which ran stock android, the camera esperically is slow.

Any ideas? I put it down to TW

I put it down to being Android, should have got an iPhone!

In all seriousness, you say you got the phone a week ago, was it like that when you first turned in on out of the box? If so I'd suggest a problem with the phone, the S5 is a high spec device, shouldn't be slow at all

TouchWiz shouldn't slow the phone down as much as you describe. I would try a factory reset and if it is still as bad then take it back to wherever you got it and try another S5

Because you are a load of ****ing help!

To the OP, is it a network branded and bought S5? or something you got through carphone warehouse or similar?

Bloat on Samsungs aren't as bad as they used to be, though Vodafone and EE do bloody insist on loading inserting their value added services.

Follow the advice given, if that doesn't work take it back to where you bought and get them to fix it.

I got it from an O2 store, it has a bit of branding, nothing major. I installed nova launcher and it's definitely helped.

I would install something like Nova Launcher.

My S5 has never exactly been slow, but Nova does make it a lot snappier and also you have a lot of customisation.

Its also worth disabling anything that you don't use like Google Magazines, Google News Stand etc.

Sorry just read that you have iinstalled Nova already.

What phone were you comparing it to (did you use to have an iPhone or Windows mobile)?

Stop watching porn on it would probably be a good place to start.

My girlfriend's S5 is full of apps but the only hint of lag I see are the homescreen transitions but it's only compared to Nova launcher that you'll really notice it.

Forget clean master or any program which claims to optimise for android; it's total bollocks.

Clean master is NOT needed on this phone. Remove it. Just like Ram booster or any other "booster" app.

Android is more than capable of sorting itself out.

Factory reset OP.

If you are noticing a delay when pressing the home button then open S Voice & go into it's settings & untick the use home button option, S Voice responds to a double press of the home button so when you press it once there is a delay while it waits to see if it is pressed again.

You can also try disabling some of the Samsung apps in Settings - apps & I also second installing Nova launcher as it is much faster & has a keep in memory option in it's advanced settings to stop the launcher redraws when exiting apps.

Samsung bloat on kitkat is nowhere near as bad as it used to be, plus the S5 is powerful.

Do you have standard S5 or the S5+ which has improved cpu/gpu? The S5+ is the 901F sold by EE.
