Vodafone Quadplay

I was debating where to put this, thought here as its more relevant I think to mobile industry as a whole.

Vodafone is testing certain price points to see how it sits with customers and potential new ones. I am in no way saying these will be the prices Vodafone will launch its broadband/phone product at. In essence its floating the idea and seeing how it sits, what is interesting is those customers who are on a Red Plan will be given a few extra features not available from other providers

There is an online survey being offered to some people, it suggests certain price points

If this is an indication Vodafone is really considering the price points, then I can only assume the next 12 months are going to really heat up, interestingly they are potentially looking into offering a multitude of on demand products like, NowTV, Netflix and even Sony Unlimited.

Genuinely if Vodafone does this, for me it would be a case of "take my money"

BT are in the process of "adjusting" their own portfolio, I think what will shake the market isn't so much the broadband its the line rental cost and associated features. I think that would be the only way Vodafone will gain a foothold is to undercut the market at large, most people won't swap for a "more advanced service" its down to price. I hope it does drive down the cost of line rental as that has gone up too far especially for those who only have it to get broadband.

Thoughts?

Very interesting I am certainly going be looking at this. Vodafone's network infrastructure restoration is certainly making head ways and they have a good spectrum portfolio to work with. If they can deliver FTTC cheaper that's a big plus.

Some of the proprasals are of great interest to me, Vodafone is apparently slowing down any potential purchase of Sky, as it doesn't want to own a pan European broadcaster. Given the potential EU intervention its probably wise. They are being very expressive about NowTV being used in its place. I suppose it offers Vodafone a compelling product but also Sky a new revenue stream seeing as growth oppurtunities are limited for them (Sky)

Vodafone have just in the last few months launched a service which offers a geographical number attached to an individual mobile number. Its basically a redirection service which allows people to avoid calling "expensive" mobile numbers (even though the cost to the initiating provider is the same). With that in mind they are looking at offer a similar feature for the home consumer, where your landline will converge with an individual mobile number, in essence the same thing.

NowTV has a lot of potential if it is developed right but do think how much they charge for sports is ludicrous on it. Cheaper just to have proper sky if u want sports.

I've never been that convinced of the advantages of quadplay. Vodafone move in the UK is purely defensive and ironically if BT buy EE it will make it less important.

Agreed but it is interesting to see they are certainly trying to make it a good quad play option.
