Although in some cases they might not be worth while. Looking again at the plans it looks like Liverpool will be added to Winter Hill when it wasn't mentioned in the 2011 stuff.
Do we know if there are any maps of the DCMS framework coverage available yet?
This Christmas was the first time I've tried to listen to the local DAB multiplexes along the M6 in Lancashire*, and it's shockingly poor at present.
Looking at the Ofcom coverage maps it's obvious why (Lancashire ends north of Charnock Ricard, Manchester and Liverpool pretty much get to the M6 and both only getting that far between the Skem turn off and Thellwall.
As it transpires NE Wales and W Chesh would probably have worked, but as that doesn't carry Radio Lancs, Manc, Mersey, or Stoke it was a bit pointless to try! (From experience my car radio, matches the published coverage maps).
Oh, and somewhere on the M6 or M55 through Lancashire and Cheshire the Trial Manchester multiplex manages to be strong enough to be picked up - all it's stations have made it onto the list - which also confirms to me that if you're listening to Bluetooth audio the Pure Highway 260dBi does background scans on DAB. Never managed to get any audio mind!
Oh, and for the BBC - please can you add some consistency to you labelling - try finding BBC Radio Stoke or BBC Radio WM in the following list when you know your usual locals (Nottingham and Leicester) are before Radio 1 (This is the order on my car stereo)
BBC LEIC
BBC MANC
BBC MRSY
BBC NOTT
BBC R1
BBC R1X
BBC R2
BBC R3
BBC R4
BBC R4EX
BBC R5L
BBC R5SX
BBC R6M
BBC WM
BBC WS
BBCASIAN
BBCCYMRU
BBCDERBY
BBCLANCS
BBCLINCS
BBCSTOKE
BBCWALES
(My RD49 is slightly less bad, Space seems to come after Z in it's alphabet so you get ASIAN to WALES, then LEIC to NOTT, then the nationals - dropping the space on all the locals would keep them grouped together, and shove the nationals to either before or after).)
And same for you Bauer -
ROCK FM
ROCKFM2
ROCKFM 3
Might work on some sets, but on others you get:
RockFM2
RockFM 3
Rock FM
or
RockFM 3
RockFM2
Rock FM
*I used to listen to the stations on MXR but that's gone now, and the last few times I've used the locals was on the M61 and there is a gap as you pass Bolton services next to Winter Hill there - however as the traffic was awful I wanted to listen to local radio and wasn't able too - when the traffic came on the signal would drop out
(And as luck would have it, I couldn't get anything on FM - as it transpires my DAB/FM splitter only needs power for the FM side, and the power cable had come loose and therefore no FM).
