Essex on Benfleet would have come online as well.

I noticed that Wrotham did help around Stockbury / Sittingbourne a bit when I was up there, but then there was an additional improvement about 2 weeks later. However, along the A2 from Key Street, through the town, Kent is still very poor even with a proper car aerial (Essex is probably marginally better). I'd have thought Benfleet would have made a big difference here, but perhaps Dunkirk is needed for full coverage. |

I see that Swansea South West wales and mid and west wales multiplex has been added to the Carmarthen transmitter according to various websites and latest version of ofcom tech parameters. I thought they might have done mynydd sylen for both multiplexes and power boost for Swansea and D1 at Carmel at the same time. Sometimes with the local mux transmitter rollout they seem to do a number of transmitters which are close to each other Norfolk seemed to be done all at once at once and then at other times it seems to be only one transmitter in one area on the rollout list. I suppose they have currently got a lot in with the end of the bbc rollout to 97%. The local rollout to 90%. Various boots to D1. And the new D2.. It seems a bit hit and miss particularly with the local roll out. I read the bbc rollout is running late as was supposed to be finished in December I don't know how many more bbc transmitters to go. Sorry slightly OT.

The next phase of expansionf the BBC National DAB network – Phase 4 – will take coverage from 93% to 97% of the population. This phase of national DAB expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. And seems sites are still being added, but sometimes takes time to publishWe are not able to provide specific details on when improvements in coverage will reach particular areas for a number of reasons – weather and other variables can impact on the build of particular transmitters. There is a good list in PDF format which shows which sites are to be added http://www.frequencyfinder.org.uk/ This will meet one of the criteria to announce a DSO date, but the other criteria to meet 50% digitial listening (currently 42%) may take another 2 or 3 years? Then phase 5 to add more sites so AM and FM can be switched off may be needed. |

It's the Kent mux being added to Etchinghill I am waiting for. I can see that, there are no hills in the way. |

Do we have dates for when new transmitters will launch (I know they should all be on this year) or are they just going to appear with little notice

Something has changed as I can get a weak signal on that mux now, but only upstairs on that side of the house with the radio by a window. The better BBC and D1 signals here I think come from Dover rather than Swingate. They work in any room of the house as long as the Radio is by the window.

Yep, I know BBC and D1 come from both, but I had a signal from them before Swingate and Creteway Down started, so I'm assuming the usable signal here comes from Dover. We get a weak FM signal from Swingate here, but Classic FM from Dover is better.
Don't think I would get a signal from Creteway Down, KMFM from there isn't usable indoors. I'm in a low part of Lyminge and the hills block a lot of the signal from the Dover and Folkestone direction. I'm not officially in the BBC and D1 coverage area, but the signal is usable near windows and outside. |

Yes interesting to note that originally from the most recent step 1 list It seemed that only Croydon was to be added to London 2. Now according to frequency finder Maidenhead Hyde farm and cateram are also to be added to London 2 and little prestwood farm has been added as discussed above. As has been said many times the original 2011 documents included many more transmitters for most multiplex. I wonder if now they have had time to maybe do more technical tests a few more filler transmitters Perhaps we are seeing a step 1 and a half with a few of these transmitters not announced in the original step 1 transmitters.
There would still need to be a step 2 and probably 3 and 4 for anything like parity with FM. |

Is there less need for fillers for London 1 than London 2?

Cumbria
Frequency clearance has been applied for on 11B for a Cumbria mux. Hopefully not too far away now... must be one of the last areas in the country without one.

There's around 200,000 people in the Heads of the Valleys still waiting for Arqiva and D1 to decide to activate one of their transmitters. To be honest it's an absolute disgrace they are popping up transmitters to serve 4000 and 5000 homes and in south Wales there's close on a quarter of a million people with no access to D1 DAB.
