Sorry having rechecked it seems Maidenhead is planned for London 1 and 3 not 2 at least at the moment.
This isn't about improving London 2 coverage (12A), it's about the BBC not causing adjacent channel interference from 12B that would otherwise blow a hole in the coverage at close proximity to a new reasonably powerful site - this would upset the London II operator. Remember this is partially in their interest anyway - BBC London is on 12A.

Now according to frequency finder Maidenhead Hyde farm and cateram are also to be added to London 2 and little prestwood farm has been added as discussed above
Another point to note is that this is not Caterham as in where the FM/TV relay is, it's a mobile tower to the south in Old Park Wood.

Frequency Finder usually has reasonable info, but do take it with a pinch of salt. It's not always 100% accurate with guesses. Caterham is one such place.

Quite agree I often travel on A465 heads of the valleys and D1 reception not good. Heolgarrig and Rhondda A have been on list for ages but nothing so far.
Yes Heolgerrig and Rhondda "A" - a rather confusing mix. I can't see how either transmitter is going to cover the Rhymney, Sirhowy, Ebbw (Fawr and Fach) valleys or east towards Abergavenny. Surely a transmitter at Ebbw Vale would be best placed to cover the eastern valleys?

SE Devon suddenly seems a lot stronger here now. Maybe Stockland Hill has had it's power upgrade.

According to MB.21. Website Maidenhead Hyde farm transmitter now operational broadcasting BBC , digital 1 Berks N.Hants. And London 1,2,3 ( interesting given discussion above about which London multiplexes would be broadcast) with photos of the transmitter. Hopefully will help the significant gap between Slough and Maidenhead that I often experience while on the train between London and reading.

The latest ITU list adds Portland and Sherborne in Dorset for the Bournemouth MUX (11B).

Looks like with the lack of suitable transmitter sites near Slough and Windsor, the power station towers are no longer available so Lyca closed Time 106.6, the main commercial stations see East Berks as part of the extended London region.

There must be a restriction to adding more transmitters to Windsor Castle (has been removed from the rollout list), so R Berks might be FM (and online) only in Windsor area (with very limited coverage from Maidenhead Hyde farm) till a DSO and the FM transmitter is replaced with a similar power DAB Berks/N Hants mux transmitter?

It's booming in on the Somerset Dorset border just south of Yeovil. Parents are chuffed as they can get Gold again.

I wish they would plan to transmit to Thanet.
I am not happy at all.

In Thanet it is very much hit and miss. You need a rooftop aerial really to guarantee unbroken reception.

I was looking forward to this new mux and purchased a new car radio in anticipation. To say I feel let down is an under-statement.

I think we're getting a bit confused between local multiplex buildout and Sound Digital's quasi-national multiplex.

Kent local multiplex on 11C will cover pretty much the entire county. Sound Digital will not.

very strange Manningtree dab has done nothing for Clacton for Essex stations.
seems the signal is really directional into Ipswich yet Ipswich is in Suffolk.
I am still only 3 bars on this mux yet D2 is 100% and comes from a much more distant TX.

Ofcom Tech Parameters suggest Stockland Hill was upgraded 28/01/2016 although I'm surprised I didn't notice the change earlier. Aerial height has changed from 173 to 158m.

Something has happened to the Birmingham MUX. It is now receivable over a greater area of east Shropshire. So is it the turners hill power increase (most likely), Sedgley beacon (Lowish power) being switched on or an increase in power from Lichfield.
Anyone any ideas??

Is something going on at Chillerton Down? South Hants was noticably weaker yesterday. Crabwood Farm was OK as the signal was full in Winchester, same for Toot Hill. Noticed weakness further in to the New Forest- I wonder if there's work going on at Chillerton?

Edit: Or just a thought, is Stockland Hill causing problems?
