At the same time as this was happening I was having issues with the London mux's and Surrey around the Farnham/Bentley area- I was seriously thinking there was something amiss with the car's radio but all seems to be well there now too- it was almost as if Hungry Hill was off air.

Has the roll out come to a halt. We don't seem to have heard of any new transmitters or power increase for a while. I thought it was supposed to be complete by September?

It's all still happening.
Continued switch-ons have taken place both last month and this month.

I know that in Sussex, the final transmitter is due to be turned on in Horsham in August and I believe this has been waiting as the site requires access via a School grounds, so will be interesting to see if this happens.

Btw I have no knowledge is the Rye transmitter has been turned on

It was mentioned on Pulse 2 that the Bradford and Huddersfield multiplex had 3 new transmitters. However reception here has not improved.

I don't think Dewsbury benefits significantly from any of the new switch-ons.
The hills to the south of the town certainly don't help.

I thought one of them was Holme Moss, from where we get national radio stations and Radio Leeds on FM.

Dewsbury is just outside the intended coverage area of the Bradford multiplex as far as DAB is concerned you're in Leeds

That's why dad has suddenly been able to get Smooth, unfortunately.

Is there an accurate way of knowing if a site is live without physically being there taking measurements?
I'm always skeptical about whether a document has been updated or not.

I think Headless Cross (Redditch) might be on for Birmingham as of recently as it's a little bit stronger than before here in North East Worcester (it was already pretty strong due to us having line of sight to the Lickey Hills transmitter!).

These local DAB build-outs seem to be giving a lot of places a really decent choice of local stations! Here you can pretty easily get Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Gloucestershire stations alongside our local H&W stuff. At my parents' in Staffordshire it's the same with robust reception of Wolverhampton and Derbyshire as well as Stoke. I noticed Staffordshire Fire HQ (Stone) wasn't on yet as of a couple of weeks ago though, so they're leaving that one a bit late. I don't know why Stoke or Coventry weren't selected for a frequency change, as they're all but adjacent and on the same channel...

I notice that the Shrop & wolves mux is stronger north of shrewsbury. I suspect that this is probably due to the wrekin which was supposed to have already been at 2kw from 0.5kw actually having its increase.
But it could be theat the other transmitters in oswestry, market drayron and church stretton have come on. Has anyone noticed anything in thses areas?

I think The Wrekin was powered up a while ago. Rhosfach Farm is expected to be on by the end of the month so it's probably that.

looks like the BBC mux has now been added so you should now get good reception. only needs D1 now http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/gallerypage.php?txid=2168

Sadly it hasn't. I did email MB21 to tell them it hadn't been added and they removed it for a bit, but seem to have put it back.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned. I live in Lowestoft and we currently have the Norwich multiplex or oulton transmitter. Does this mean we will still miss out on new stations as we can't get now digital which is really annoying as we are missing out on all those new stations.

I think Holme Farm might be on with Nottinghamshire - managed to get all the way to Ikea retail park without a drop out, normally it dies as you leave the A610 and the signal around there is weak - showing full strength yesterday

BBC Essex is now 100% signal so the Clacton transmitter is now on here

I see that my local ensemble Sussex Coast has been relabeled Sussex. Presumably this is due to Horsham being added soon.

I have checked http://www.wohnort.org and it has the following

"August 9th
The UK regulator has authorised the services JACK and JACK 2 on the local ensemble Surrey-NSussex to switch to DAB+. "

I doubt it's got anything to do with Horsham specifically. It's because it is already county wide. Horsham is just another filler. Other multiplexes are being renamed to reflect their new coverage areas.

Interesting. Was hoping for a bit more than 40k. Especially with full rate sampling. Surely half rate would sound better at 40k.

Jack 2 isn't going to sound great at 32k.

Also interesting that Gregory Watson's rationale was to free up space for future services on a multiplex that's not yet full. Unless nobody wanted to actually say it's a mix of financial and taking DAB+ forward. Good in a way, given that Surrey covers much of London. This will be the first local service in London to carry DAB+.

I really enjoy Jack so I'm hoping it doesn't sound worse than the mono 80k service, which actually sounds pretty good compared to others at that bitrate.
