Av receiver info
I have an old receiver that is still in good health but want to upgrade to an HDMI capable amp at least 4 Hdmi inputs but one that has a bult in DAB receiver.
Does anyone know of an AV receiver that features the above? Im currently using a Denon AVR 1906 with Kef Kht 1005 speakers. Can anyone help? Thanks Mark |

Thanks for the reply did have a look at this one its the discontinued part that concerns me a little.
Some of the best deals can be had on discontinued kit. Yamaha, for example, release a new AV receiver and the older model can be had for almost half price to shift the stock. For example - the recently discontinued 2030 is now £799 The new 2040 is £1499 |

I wouldn't worry about that. Kit gets replaced and updated all the time. It has only recently been discontinued and offers everything you need.

I won't say I've looked at every AV receiver on the market but searching for DAB products on the websites of the major players in the AV field (Denon, Onkyo, Pioneer, Sony and Yamaha) reveals almost zero current products. I can only seem to find old models with DAB tuners.
For example on the Yamaha website about the only hit I got was the model linked to above. Not even their flagship top of the range monster of a system has DAB. FM/AM tuners all over the place but DAB, if there are any they are pretty well hidden. |

If budget allows you could by a separate DAB tuner and connect that to a new receiver, would give you more choice, for example.....
Denon AVRX2100 and TIBO DAB240 @ £378 http://m.richersounds.com/#!/product/DENO-AVRX2100-BLK http://m.richersounds.com/#!/product/TIBO-DAB420 Have you looked at internet radio? |

If buying anything with DAB make sure it is DAB+ capable. Most countries are upgrading their transmissions. The UK, probably one day.
The Yamaha linked to does DAB+, have not checked the others. |

If that is the driving reason for you to change from a receiver you are otherwise happy with have you considered just adding a combined HDMI/Optical switch instead? It is what I did.

The switchbox has (say) 4 HDMI in, 4 optical ins and one HDMI out to the tv and 1 optical out to the amplifier. You route all your HDMI video equipment through it, and use the optical for the audio side of things. The switch then switches both the video and audio together.
This is fine if all your sources have HDMI and optical connections on them like a sky box, most blu-ray players etc. |

Here's a three way one which can also switch scart as well:

I also run analogue audio out from TV to amp for non-HDMI sources that do not go through the switch. The amp automatically falls back to that if there is no optical audio feed.
