The flack didn't start until after that episode. The first episode was well received by the majority. So I'm relatively surprised it dropped 1.5m already in the finals already.

Thanks Ronant.

Last Tango is doing much better on Sundays than The Musketeers. Foyle's War sadly going out with a whimper. The right time for it to go. Still Open is solid. Could Birds Of A Feather have managed 7m on Sunday?

Always a ray of sunshine aren't you?

It seems fairly natural to me what with it being episode 2 and episode 1 being so hyped. Sherlock dropped 1.7m from episode 1 to 2 in the finals of the most recent series. Plus the SW clash probably dented it a bit even in the finals (not by much but still).

Good consistency for Count Arthur.

Ronant - do you have a consolidated figure for ep1 (or indeed 2)?

Live figures:

Silent Witness 4.51m”

So BC managed to timeshift exactly the same this week which is some achievement but still 1.5m down. SW on a real roll though well up on last year and massive timeshift as well even aginst BC. Cant say I understand SW ratings at all.

Just a note in advance of the figures that both of those episodes were subject to opt-outs in Wales.

What should be pointed out is Silent Witness is doing better than last year even though competition is stronger. Last year Silent Witness didn't get 8m viewers even with an overnight of 6.22m.

Interesting that SOAH's timeshift was so far behind other shows.

It looks like timeshifts of above a million are now becoming standard for major scripted fare on BBC1 and ITV., and above two million/three million for major hits like BC and SW. What was once something done largely by younger viewers (DW, Top Gear, EE) is now clearly becoming common-place and mainstream.

But SOAH's audience may be very old skewing and so (as yet) less prone to time-shifting?

SOAH viewers are very much into timeshifting...

....to 1984!

Ta. Groan.

Not much point in having cconsolidated figures then add they'll be meaningless!

I noticed that too. Stronger competition and Silent Witness is doing better than last year. It's not just that more viewers are around on Monday and Tuesday it is that timeshifts are bigger than some of last year's.

I expect there's an element of that, plus the ITV opposition ASFM was on barely 3m (overnight) so there was less need to record SOAH than there otherwise might have been.

Wales is quite small though, about 5% of the UK population (Scotiand 8%, NI 3%). We can make allowances for it. (Although there were issues with the timeshift of some opted-out programmes last year!)

ITV Media says ITV are to air a new show called Celebrity Animal Sanctuary in the next few months:

Quote:
“Celebrity Animal Sanctuary is a warm, funny and captivating entertainment series that encapsulates two of Britain’s biggest passions: animals and celebs! Fully backed by the RSPCA too.

6 x 60minutes in Q2 Midweek Peak”

Presumably Wednesdays at 8pm?

ITV can't make a show without celebs.... it will be full of Corrie/Emmerdale actors too.

ITV Press Centre has this for Saturday 31 January:

6.30 Stars in Their Eyes
7.30 Planet's Got Talent
8.05 Take Me Out
9.20 The Jonathan Ross Show

I can't see that doing any better to be honest.

Ony ep 1 so far, 1.92m, up from the 1.62m overnight.

19:00 Emmerdale 6.14m (28.4%)
20:00 Emmerdale 414k (1.9%)

19:30 EastEnders 5.56m (24.3%)
22:30 EastEnders 643k (4.6%)

So 6.51m versus 6.20m pretty close last night - had it been a 7.00pm EE and 7.30pm EM - no doubt EE would have had the advantage.

Ta. Disappointing, even making allowance for the lack of Wales. Deserves better but it's the sort of thing you'll love or hate. No middle ground with this one!

No real winners tbh. It's a shame they clashed. Emmerdale had it's shocks and Trial where as EastEnders was raw Character Driven. I'd put money on Last Nights episode of EastEnders being BAFTA nominated.
I do wonder if the Scenes with Kellie Bright Spurred people to vote for her at the NTA's.

Both soap could have seen their Brilliant episodes 1 million higher. Just proves soap clashing needs to stop.
Top marks for the BBC avoiding a clash tomorrow with Enders 7:30 & 8:30.

It was. It's the sort of Episode soaps should be doing and it's one EastEnders does very well. Had EastEnders had the 30mins lead it would have come out on top.
