I think Silent Witness has been great with some strong themes (obviously its drama and takes artistic licence with the story lines) I like it because it's a different story each week. Broadchurch is also excellent drama which I record, as the ads drive me insane but its still a very good drama..I don't know why people are so surprised at the ratings that Silent Witness is receiving this year, well done for a show that been going for years I say..

Hoping Wolf Hall's rating doesn't end up disappointing tomorrow, all signs point to it being huge but we've been there before and the ratings have been a let down. It's already trending, which doesn't really mean much but the interest is there. (I'm also hoping there won't be an "it should have been on BBC One" posts, but we all now that's not going to happen. I'll just have to bite my tongue.)

Can't be this year, as it goes from 1st January to 31st December, they'll probably put forward the Lucy's death episodes. They could put it forward for Best Single Episode at the British Soap Awards though, but they'll probably choose the live episode instead like they did in 2010.

Yes this has been confirmed already. Not sure what diff if any it will make to either show.

I look at that schedule and think The Voice will go even higher opposite Planet's Got Talent.

Of their chat show? Where is that going? You get the feeling this has been rushed on to get more people aware of their chat show. Bet it won't work.

No idea as to how the National Television Awards will rate tonight. Could do anything from 5.5m to 6.5m. Here's how every (yes every single) ceremony has rated since 1995

2014 - 5.90m/6.20m (26.0%/27.4%)

2012 - 6.18m/6.38m (26.2%/27.1%)
2011 - 6.49m/6.66m (27.5%/28.3%)
2010 - 7.46m (29.6%)
--- no ceremony in 2009 ---
2008 - 5.27m (22.0%)

Was Wolf Hall trending? Everytime I've looked it wasn't there.

I can see it getting a boost due to the Anne Kirkbride tribute. Expect Wolf Hall and Big Brother to do well regardless.

So do I. Take Me Out has no chance starting two thirds of the way through The Voice with that lead-in. Should be The Chase at 7.30pm with Planet's Got Talent at 6pm.

I bet it won't too but it's not an awful idea. Can't be worse than wall to wall Jeremy Kyle!

Seems like for whatever reason ITV are quite determined not to air The Chase on Saturdays much, if at all. According to ITV Media, they've commissioned just 9 episodes of the celebrity version for the next year. Compare that to Pointless Celebrities which just recently was recommissioned for 38 episodes - so quite a big difference. Switching SITE and Planets Got Talent won't make any difference at all, they'll both still rate low and TMO will continue to rate poorly starting part-way through The Voice. I've seen no promotion for The Jonathan Ross Show either, I reckon that's odds on for it to get some record low ratings too.

Only 50% of the presenters turned up today.....if people thought the programme was dire, the bit after the end credits was utter poo.

Radio Times
ITV (on pulling The Wonders Of Britain after 2 episodes)...
“ITV have taken the decision to review the scheduling of Wonder of Britain, and we will reschedule the remaining episodes in due course. It is a series we are proud of, and we will reintroduce it to viewers at some point in 2015".

Good RT article on ITVs ratings.

ITV pulls Julia Bradbury series mid-run after walloping from Emilia Fox drama Silent Witness

Maybe ITV could put Julia Bradbury, Suzanna Reid and Christine Bleakly together on a programme?

Toss in Mel & Sue and create an all women lunch time chat show...bound to be a winner.

I've no idea why they don't like airing Saturday episodes of The Chase much as away from SCD it can do pretty well. They aired 16 episodes last year which is quite a lot by ITV gameshow standards but compared to Pointless it isn't much. They never repeat it either, not even in the 5pm hour on Saturdays. Wonder why they've only ordered 9 episodes for this year? Makes me wonder if they're planning to keep it in the Saturday 7pm slot in the Autumn with Jekyll & Hyde going elsewhere. They would therefore have ordered fewer episodes as the RWC will take up Saturdays in September/October so The Chase wouldn't start until late October. It definitely says Saturday too so it seems Sunday is out of the question (a pity as if it can do 3.5m on Saturdays it'd probably do 4m on Sundays). Although I've no idea where Jekyll & Hyde would go if The Chase was on Saturdays. Sundays at 7pm? It doesn't seem like a Sunday show though. A weeknight at 8pm? Unlikely I think. It definitely looks pre-watershed though so their options are limited.

Agree that their Saturdays will see no improvement whatsoever with what they've done. It seems odd especially as they have a few options for replacements, none of which they seem to want to take. You're probably right about Jonathan Ross too. His 2014 ratings were poor anyway and were down on 2013, so it seems he's on a downward path.

I think The Chase will air in the Summer this year on Saturday nights. Nothing's been announced in terms of new entertainment shows for the summer so I wouldn't be surprised if ITV airs returning shows such as Celebrity Chase at 7pm in July/August and burn off The Cube (which has already been recorded) during the summer too in the 8pm slot. Although Sundays is a slight possibilty, I still think Jekyll will air on Saturdays this Autumn - perhaps even launching on Halloween.
