Re. EastEnders - it's a story in the Daily Star. How good are they with soap news?

It'll be too late by then.

Too many shows, especially on ITV, have started a mess and found their footing... only for the viewers to have abandoned it never to return. They need to hit the ground running with the launch.
Well for Corrie they called Tina's final confrontation with Rita, even down to the lines. A month before it happened:

Big Brother is a mess - maybe this pathetic controversy works for some people but none of it seems fair or realistic and literally everyone is coming across as hateful.

Yet I am one of those "watch opening night and not much else" viewers who was drawn to tonight's much publicised episode so I assume it's job done. But it reminds me why I stopped being a regular viewer years ago. Just horrible all round

I watched around 5-mins of SITE and about the same for The Voice. SITE was absolutely terrible from what I saw. Disaster written all over it. As for The Voice - same old boring, serious singing show. I've totally ditched that programme now. Instead I continued watching Hannibal from TV boxsets on demand via Sky which I'm enjoying immensely. Saturday night TV is the absolute pits at the moment for me (with the exception of TMO - which I did watch, but has also lost it's sparkle a bit).

Yes, I've just been watching some of it. Not seen BB for years. What a horrible show. A complete and utter mess.

Have to say I am a little disappointed with all these EE leaks. I thought DTC was better at controlling this sort of stuff. Or is it a case of leak everything because we have to get a massive reaction for the anniversary. Les hope something is kept back to surprise us.

The way he dies is kept secret and there is a few other small things too. (The Reveal for Starters) I think there will be some surprises. DTC stated Shocks and Surprises and anything can happen. I guess that is why they have LIVE inserts throughout the week too.

There was a repeat of Pointless Celebrities on at about 5ish. It was new to me as I hasn't seen that one before.

Take Me Out was ok

Apparantly there is a massive big episode of EastEnders coming up this year that will get massive big ratings.

LOL at the people tuning in for the first time in ages so they can condemn the show. Bravo !

Not BB's finest hour. Uncomfortable viewing, for sure. Thought producers did okay with their handling of Jeremy incident but Ken should have gone as well.

But who do you think is leaking to the press - the production team?

It's so disgusting - The decisions made were odd considering some of the stuff that has happened in the house over the years, and it comes to something when the so-called victim is even more unlikeable than most.

Maybe I'm just out of touch with it these days but I'm so thankful I'm not a regular viewer. Vile television - not fun in the slightest.

But you must realise by now that we dont watch any more than 5 mins of a program, decide its rubbish and then bitch about it.

It's not to condemn the show - it was out of genuine interest given the publicity today (and I tend to watch launch night of CBB to see who's in) but something like tonight makes me realize why I'm glad I don't watch regularly anymore. Maybe I've grown up or maybe I'm bored of it but it was just a horrible piece of television.

I would imagine that Celebrity Big Brother attracts like for like, I think its probably fairly normal reaction to be horrified by what Channel 5 department consider light entertainment. But its good to question what we watch and how much we actually relate to it or are horified, excited, by as it perhaps puts up a mirror of sorts to our inner selves, how much do the television executives manipulate viewers by creating drama in their lives that doesn't actually exist in reality or their own ordinary but actually even more special daily lives.

I think the producers dealt with it quite well in the circumstances. The issue is that Jeremy clearly shouldn't have been let in there in the first place. But he was unfortunately but they did deal with it pretty well tonight.

Ken's a weird one. There's definitely a strong argument for getting rid of him, but I wonder whether the producers put ratings and hype before that in their decision to let him stay? He's a nasty piece of work but from what I gather the producers these days are quite reluctant to eject people.

Can we get rid of Perez while we're at it? So irritating, thinking it's all about him.

No idea how it'll rate. It'll be lower than if this all kicked off on a weeknight but the rating will be very good for a Saturday show. Is 2m achievable?

Ken Morley ? He made a series of remarks throughout the day that were incredibly inappropriate. Comments with racial undertones, homophobic undertones, sexist undertones. I could go on. He appeared to be aware of the offense his comments were causing but carried on regardless. For this he received only a caution from Big Brother, and a stern telling off.

Jeremy Jackson was removed for a separate incident whereby he partially removed a fellow housemate's robe during a conversation in the toilet.

Yes I think you got it pretty much bang on with the second point. It is all very well keeping under wraps random one-off returns for Peggy etc, but the ratings don't really matter for those regular episodes so there's nothing to be lost by trying to give the show some kind of integrity. Whereas the 30th week is absolutely all about ratings, and it would be highly highly embarrassing for both the show and the Beeb if they didn't get massive figures, so they just have to interest casual viewers.

On the other hand, while there were small improvements for the Christmas Day and NYD episodes, those increases weren't spectacular, and also didn't lead to any sustained increase in viewers after the Christmas/New Year drama had died down this week, so perhaps they've decided to abandon the policy of keeping things underwraps altogether and we'll be seeing leaks again more often from now on.

Finally, we're obviously not going to find out who killed Lucy before the live ep, so it's not like there will be nothing for those who prefer to be kept in the dark.

The irony is that the person who came out of tonight's show looking the most reasonable was probably Katie Hopkins of all people.

It'll definitely be an interesting few days going forwards for them.

Merely offering an opinion to what I saw. I'm glad I don't watch it anymore. Truly awful television. I'm not sure how it can be defended? Even Emma Willis was tweeting about it basically abusing the show.

Out of interest Dancc - did you watch BB when it aired on C4?
