You haven't watched S2 have you?

The violence has definately got a bit more graphic than in S1 and it's lost its lighter side for the most part, so not much fun for children.

Golf fans will likely have sky anyway. If you want to follow golf it's not about one championship in UK. BBC bloke saying golf not popular just before they lose open golf. Who'd have thunk it. Lol.

Dunno about that, Augusta is very big on Tradition, probably like the link with BBC.

So only fans of golf watch golf?

That's ok then, short sighted IMHO.

”

Well they've definitely killed off Waterloo Road, from 3m at 8pm to a total of 922k across both showings. What a sad end to such a long running major series.

I dont think he was saying it for the reason you think.

and in most cases the move to Sky is not a problem for current fans, its about the fans it wont now pick up, due to being buried on Sky Sports 3, rather than BBC Two,

You take the Sky money you have what is coming to you, is my way of looking at it.

It's going to be a strong week for the BBC.
Could DIP get it's highest rated episode in the middle of EastEnders LIVE weeks?

The new Radio Times is going to town with the 30th anniversary a week early: front cover and an eight-page spread. Interview with DTC included.

Broadcast reports that ITV's controller of news and current affairs, Ian Squires, is stepping down after the election. I didn't realise ITV still had current affairs and their news coverage is a sad shadow of the ITN days.I wonder if this is the beginning of a clear-out ?

Bear Grylls: Mission Survive begins Friday 20th February at 9pm on ITV.

Not sure how I feel about it going on a Friday to be honest. I think a Saturday or midweek slot would have worked better. Friday seems quite odd for the kind of show it is.

Also unless it moves it will have to miss a week between the final and the penultimate episode as there's an England game on 27th March.

Or maybe he is just stepping down as covering an election is generally the pinnacle of a newsman's career like the Olympics or World Cup is to a sports presenter.

Do you work for a tabloid newspaper? Why report on a news story when you skip across a news story and then spend the rest of the article predicting a bigger worse story.

Yes there is news and current affairs on ITV.

ITV News, ITV Regional News, Tonight, Exposure, The Agenda, plus various one offs and events. Yes less than in the old days but they had 100% of advertising revenue back then and weren't competing with channels that shows lowest common denominator programming 24 hours a day. ITV News regularly punches above its weight on its limited budget and receives praise for it.

I think it will, it's sandwiched in between EE for one.

Really hope we see a nice big rating for EE live, don't think it'll be 16m like it was in 2010 but something like 12-13m would be fantastic.

Agreed
Do we know what is on ITV against it yet? (officially)

The quality threshold must be set at a very low level for broadcasters these days for them to deliver the sort of content what they do

it does seem a bit much for daytime TV , still This Morning has had some very tacky guests on over the past few year. Woman with the largest breasts that kind of thing.

You really wonder why Phil sticks with it, it cant be helping his career.

Why would anyone want a sex toy with the This Morning seal of approval?

It always used to be the case that the cricket authorities always said that they couldn't give any live content to Sky because Sky wanted it all exclusive or not at all, but then they did the F1 deal where only half of it is exclusive, and it seems to do alright for them. I think Sky might be a little disingenuous there because it's hardly likely they'd abandon all cricket coverage if they gave a test to the Beeb.

Obviously all sports are different and football can work across pay TV and free TV because there's loads of it in lots of competitions, and it's also a sport that works well in highlights, which is not always the case with other sports.

No he wasn't, what Vassos Alexander was arguing is that participation in golf is down compared to cycling, because cycling has increased massively over recent years and it's cheaper to buy a bike and ride it than it is to buy golf clubs and join a golf club. That is a general point which has nothing to do with the BBC, especially given Vassos Alexander also works for BT and Chris Evans is a massive golf fan.
