That second Corrie rating on Friday really is poor. Also, ED's big week fell totally flat. Although given how contrived and lame Katie's exit was, I can't say I'm surprised ITV didn't want to promote it hugely. ED is now reaching the stage where even the death of a long standing character has absolutely no impact as the show has leaned towards Hollyoaks style of ridiculously OTT drama. I've really enjoyed ED in recent months but this week was just so predictable with yet another death. It's just too much.

It really did - whilst Thursday's episode got a boost ( as far as Thursday ratings go) it wasn't even the highest rating of the week.
Friday's rating (the aftermath to a long serving character's death) was the lowest rating since 2nd January.

Just a question to throw out there to the ratings thread

How much of a detrimental impact is advertising during programmes having on commercial tv?

I can't speak for others - but for me, it's becoming a real turn off - even on internet sites such as DS - the constant intrusion of adverts seriously pisses me off.

In this day & age - when we can watch programmes - be it via catch up services or waiting till they get released as boxsets etc etc - is it possibly a case that commercial channels are suffering from "advertising fatigue"?

I know that we never get data from commercial iplayer statistics (and even then, you still get hit with advertisements) - but is it possible that (along with other factors - i.e crap programmes) that commercial channels are seeing a downturn in overnight ratings because people just can't be bothered with the endless intrusion of advertising?

I am sure advertising is a turn off for some but its just another factor to be taken into account for ITV I think. I am sure if the programs were better it would not be mentioned so much.
Personally I cant fathom why people actually watch 20 mins of adds every hour on ITV when they can be so easily avoided but thats just me I suppose.

Fantastic for The Voice, highest overnight rating for it since 29 April 2012! And excellent for Wish List.

ITV must've completely collapsed (surprise surprise).

UK TV Ratings ‏@TVRatingsUK 6s6 seconds ago
#TakeMeOut gained ITV's biggest audience with 3.33m/15.7%. #StarsInTheirEyes continued to flounder with 2.43m/12.1%.

Not as bad as I thought (thought it would be sub 2m for SITE). Still rubbish though.

Finally a rise for win your wish list, for me the bbc should be looking for formats like this, really simple ideas, likeable contestants and an accomplished host.

Must have been more viewers around yesterday that pretty much everything is up on last week, even Stars in their Eyes.

Didn't viewers complain about an hour long episode of Downton Abbey and the use of ad breaks that meant its true length was somewhere around 40mins?

How easy is it to avoid the ad breaks...isn't the normal way to go to the toilet or make a cup of tea?

The internet is like the wild west with ads plastered all over it, indicates what brands and advertisers would love to do if they had free reign....which they eventually will have.

Very good for TVUK especially when you remember the bile that has been spouted about it since it started. Has it increased because the opposition is so weak or because Rita/Ricky have settled in well and are better liked?

Get an ad blocker for your browser! Can't understand why there are people who don't use these.

Luckily I am not yet old enough to have to go to the toilet every 10mins.

Not a bad thing. Watching House of Cards on Netflix, everyone seems to have an iPhone and/or Mac.

Yet on Damages (shame the BBC dropped it) , Sony products dominate.

Doesn't detract from the dramas.

Sometimes it can do. In Rizzoli & Isles, it was noted by one character that they were waiting for a delivery, apparently 'Amazon now do evening deliveries' ....... also in the same programme 'Wow just look at the space in the Nissan, I didn't know that you could get so much in it '

It has to be subtle otherwise it can pull you out of the programme. I've noticed that on some American shows, they use Mac's and iPhones, but they use different fonts and graphics - yet the same ringtones ! It's a Mac, use it as a Mac

I think ITV being so unbelievably weak has definitely helped. I mean, Planet's Got Talent? Really?

The rugby might have added a couple of hundred thousand to last night (the same thing happened last year).

I can't speak for anyone else but I love Ricky and Rita has totally surprised me. She comes across very likeable on the Voice. And I personally think this is the best panel of all the series of the Voice, and I didn't think I'd b saying that after Kylie.
