Not bad for Back in the Room. Bearing in mind that the McKenna shows used to get 11m+ back in the 90s, I don't really know why people were being so snooty about it being an hypnosis show.

The Voice UK dropped to a series low last night (March 14), according to overnight figures.

BBC One's singing competition averaged 6.69m (31.6%) during the first knockouts episode, which saw will.i.am and Rita Ora choose their final teams.

The National Lottery: Win Your Wish List continued with 4.08m (20%) from 8.30pm, with Casualty attracting 4.85m (24.5%) afterwards.

BBC Two's How We Got to Now with Steven Johnson wrapped up with 663k (3.1%) from 7.30pm. A repeat of Dad's Army amused 1.7m (8.3%), and an airing of Hockney managed 828k (4.4%) from 9pm.

On ITV, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway appealed to 5.46m (26.4%) from 7pm.

Phillip Schofield's You're Back in the Room kicked off with 4.08m (19.8%) from 8.20pm, before the Madonna special of The Jonathan Ross Show was watched by 2.68m (13.7%).

Channel 4's The World's Weirdest Weather drew 712k (3.4%) in the 8pm hour, and Kristen Wiig film Bridesmaids entertained 1.08m (6.2%) from 9pm.

On Channel 5, the latest episode of CSI averaged 878k (5.5%) from 10.10pm.

The multichannels were topped by ITV3's Foyle's War, which managed 955k (4.7%) from 8pm.

Considering how strong this series of Takeaway has been that's a disappointing drop for it. I wonder why? The rugby finished just in time for it (programme wise). You're Back in the Room will at the very least only have three weeks of awful figures rather than four! In all seriousness, that's not a terrible start considering. I can't see it growing, though.

Well I'm pleased with the rating for YBITR - although I still don't quite know how I feel about the show. Years of posting on DS should have made me hate anything that just aims to be silly fun and nothing more. But I kind of enjoyed it. I wasn't hooked, it wasn't appointment to view, but it sat nicely after Takeaway for quite a fun line-up. And it's an original UK format too which is nice.

I can imagine it might get people talking and that'll be it's best hope of avoiding the usual week 2 drop off. The breakdown looked OK but shows with decent breakdowns usually still see a drop. Decent though the launch might be, it doesn't give a lot of room for a drop.

ADP is a known BBC fanboy who gets emotional and angry when anyone dares criticise them.

Only 20.8m watching TV during Takeaway's slot. Might explain some of the drop as that is a pretty small total considering Takeaway and The Voice were both on air. Takeaway's 28% (inc +1) share isn't that bad but the audience for it is very low and I'm not sure why as this series has been very good (better than last year's so far). A bit of a perplexing drop really. Having said that, whilst the total audience has fallen 0.82m since the launch 3 weeks ago,the share is only down 0.7 points. Suggests a fall in TV audience is to blame. Even so, the share was 31% on the same night last year I think so still some decline that I'm not sure how they can address.

Completely level with last year though, and the share was up- Considering before this series a lot of people were writing it off as being heavily down yoy, its still doing very well- What else could get c7m viewers against Takeaway?

I presume You've Been Framed! was it's lead in? Maybe they should air a gameshow before it which will probably pull in a slightly bigger audience, like Tipping Point: Lucky Stars or The Cube? This series feels really fresh so I can't believe it's viewer fatigue.

Good for YBITR! I don't get the intense dislike, yes, it's silly but I enjoyed it. I guess it depends where you stand with hypnosis (I'm on the fence as I haven't been hypnotised). If you believe it, would have enjoyed it, if not, you'd think it's pathetic. The rating proves there was a lot of curiosity but the comments/social media which was around 70% negative will mean a big drop next week. But to be honest, first season of Splash had the same negativity but it did well (well, better than expected judging by the response). The reason I think it did well, was not just curiosity but because it's different. It had been done back in the day, but we haven't had this sort of show in a while (only Derren Brown sort of shows), which haven't been on for while. And they always rate well for Ch4.

Lower than usual for Takeaway. A low for The Voice. Decent for Bridesmaids.

I agree, I don't think it's fatigue as like you say it feels fresh and the reaction has been positive.

You've Been Framed was its lead-in and got a pitiful 2.39m. A better lead-in would help but that is only part of the issue. To be honest I'm not sure what they can do. The numbers aren't bad but they are down and I'm not entirely sure why.

Thanks for explaining guys. I think YBITR did well and like grondagronda I remember how well Paul McKenna used to do. Wouldn't be surprised to see it hold on to most of its viewers.

Was Takeaway affected by the rugby? It doesn't seem very resilient this year. The Voice still doing decent numbers. It'll never be X Factor/Strictly level again but does well enough. Casualty was solid as was the lottery. Decent night for BBC1 and ITV

I believe in hypnosis but I don't believe the hypnosis on this show is real. The acting was just so obvious. For example when they were making balloons and the woman was hypnotised into thinking she was an expert. The balloon disappeared under the table and seconds later she pulled out a rude looking object which she clearly hadn't made herself in such a short space of time.

That doesn't change any of what I posted so I don't know what that's about. Emmerdale and Corrie also went through that and if anyone had a clear non biased head on in this thread they'd plainly see that Corrie gets as much "in crisis" talk as EE

But I do genuinely believe EE has the easier ride in the schedules - especially as it's clearly in better shape quality wise.

BBC News started just before 7 so no part of Takeaway aired against the rugby.

I don't think there can be any gripes about TVUK performance. Historically it trends downwards as it gets to this stage but I don't know what can be done about that. Its still the dominant show though and has been since early January, anchoring virtually an entire quarters worth of primetime wins on Saturdays. That's a good return on the investment in my book-especially given the negative reactions when the BBC took it on. As things stand , I would say its here for the long term. Its going to take something special to break its early season strength which is actually now feeding through a little more to these stages.

Speaking of those types of shows, I've been recently watching Derren Brown's stuff, and The Experiment series was fantastic but really disturbing (especially the Gameshow episode). It was only a few years ago, but if it aired today, OFCOM would have got so many complaints. I've never seen such a shocked audience response when it ended when usually the audience claps when the presenter says "good night", here, they sat in silence. It was quite chilling.

Then Takeaway has no excuse for such a poor rating. It should be over 6m.

In my opinion SNT is the best Saturday night show at the moment bar none, which is why I find it annoying it rates much lower than the talent shows.

Maybe this is what Saturday nights have become, if it isn't a talent show, then it's below 6m automatically. SNT is still in a league of its own below the talent shows but ahead of all other entertainment shows.

Surprised YBITR did so well, and with a good retention across the hour as well, looks like the many posts about it being a flop will have to wait until next week...

It has been the top second tier entertainment show for several years. Never rates as well as the talent shows but better than all others.

We need a non talent show to breakthrough and become big or else we will be doomed to have more of them.

YBITR did fairly decently by ITV standards. Better than TMO was doing in the same slot. A shame SNT has dropped again. As others have said, this year it does feel really fresh again and is IMO the best show on a Saturday night at the moment. The Voice drops to a series low - but posts the same number as it did for knockout episode 1 last year (6.7m).

What does everyone think about the Rugby ratings? They were not exactly stellar were they for all those talking about ITV or Sky making a bid.

YBITR will be down next week. It was awful.
