BOAF series 2 so far is not funny. Think I laughed twice in total
and even that was not out loud just a little chuckle.

It faces EastEnders again next Thursday so it's ratings could fall again.

That Sue & Mel chat show is crap.

The X Factor was flying in 2009 and Top Gear moved to 9pm to avoid it. Then they avoided it completely. I miss those Autumn runs of Top Gear. You'd get one in Summer and Autumn.

Good to see a longer run this year.

The 1999 BBC One series probably would have worked out with better production, but it ended up as a total mess.

I really don't understand how it was allowed to happen. I wouldn't have blamed her if she'd walked out on it, but she was too professional for that.

No idea, but I don't think she was ever desperate for Feather to return. She wanted the opportunity to do other stuff during the original run, so there was a break for two to two-and-a-half years in the mid-1990s, and she's been in work and in demand ever since the original run ended.

That's another strong figure for EastEnders and it seems to be building momentum as it approaches the anniversary. Emmerdale's 7pm did alright but the 8pm episode seems to always take a hit - unless EastEnders has an episode at 8.30pm! Birds of a Feather did decently but not brilliantly, with only a slight increase on the episodes against EastEnders. Bring Back Borstal is another disaster while I thought Cyberbully may do slightly better than that. On the flip side Death in Paradise is a great performer for BBC One and Celebrity Big Brother is on a role.

I tend to agree: especially as episodes of Midsomer Murders are largely self-contained stories (aren't they?). So gaps aren't as important as in a continuing series.


According to Wiki, this 12-part run will be the longest of the new era (post-2002 revamp).

With its first eviction, another big row and a new house mate (which I think has been confirmed to be Katie Price), I expect CBB to be closer to the 3m. It should be in theory.

As for Channel 4 last night, I'm a little surprised that Cyberbully didn't crack 2m, maybe I had a little bit of a higher expectation of it.

So what do you think happened with EastEnders on Monday? I expected it to be higher but the Tuesday & Thursday ratings have been strong. I think Birds should have been higher without an EastEnders clash.

Thanks DMN. Absolutely huge for Broadchurch. Excellent for Silent Witness as well, those are its highest ratings since 2011, I believe. This week's should stay close to 8m as well, Tuesday's should definitely be over, it's a big ask for Monday's to be though, but, given the above timeshifts (1.93m/2.07m) and the clash, it adding around 2.5m isn't unthinkable.

Thanks for some consolidated numbers at last and thats very good for BC although not completely unexpected for the 1st ep this weeks will be really interesting. Great for SW too, I wonder if its timeshifts will be up next week as well.

Is Top Gear a 10 or 12 part series?

Possibly not being on the previous Monday? Might have caught out a few.

Wolf Hall's ratings will be interesting, given the amount of hype by the media as well as promotion by BBC Two, The highest rated BBC Two drama in recent years was Rome with 6.6m which might be tricky for Wolf Hall to match or beat.

BOAF certainly suffering a 2nd series drop but understandable to some extent. Still good ratings though for sitcom these days.

I am looking forward to it and expecting very decent ratings but you might be looking way too high there.

Actually recently the best days ratings for EE have not been Mondays for whatever reason but Fridays have been higher though.

Well if you follow the link, Wikipedia is counting the Christmas specials as the first two episodes of a 12-part series.

Personally I'm thinking 3-4m range which for BBC Two is great but it's hard to tell considering the books were huge sellers and the stage adaptation was a huge hit as well. It would be wonderful it did manage 6m but even I think it's very unlikely.

I wasn't. It was well acted and reasonably compelling but it didn't exactly look like a mainstream audience puller. One for the critics again.

I know it trended heavily on Twitter, but given the show's content - social media and Twitter specifically were core components of the story - that was always likely to be exaggerated I felt.

Overall I thought it rated well for what it was.

Maybe University Challenge pulled some viewers away; that along with slightly stronger ITV fair (compared to Tuesday and Thursday) could have dented EastEnders slightly.

Interestingly University Challenge did better against EastEnders this Monday (3.1m/13%) than it did against football last week (2.6m/11%).

Conversely Richard Wilson on the Road scored 4.0m/17% (inc +1) against football, falling to 3.0m/13% this week against EastEnders.

I would have thought it was unlikely that UC would share similar viewers to EE!

Yeah Friday episodes have seen a bump lately. I noticed tonights ran to time and Ended at 8:30pm. Can't remember (Apart from Xmas perhaps) when it last done that.

It's easy viewing and fills the gap for half hour. I won't watch on Thursday though due to EastEnders.

That was a massive rating that I was very surprised about as the show wasn't great. More recently we have to look to ratings for series 1 of both Line Of Duty (high 4m) and The Fall (over 5m).
