So they're having a good week this week. Well done it's fantastic. But too much gloating isn't a good trait as the pro-BBC posters well the one who posts here Robbie will have their turn over christmas..oh no I forgot people don't pay attention to BBC1 anyway on xmas day.
And you know next week ITV will drop like a brick so if you're prepared to gloat this much now I hope we're going to see some perspective next week.
At least the BBC manages to hang onto its high ratings for more than a single week over xmas sometimes it can stretch to 3 if you count it from the SCD final. Are people still not paying attention there or is it just on xmas day they don't bother???
The sparring between you George and Robbie is good actually but some other people are just annoying and blatantly showing bias.”
Yeah, like you. You're showing bias.
The BBC have plenty of faults, not last year, but this year. Last year, it's been the closest to perfection in light of their scheduling.
This year, Jay Hunt has made BBC1 primetime the home of daytime, with shoddy factual series like '10 Things You Didn't Know', and extending The One Show to an hour, and commissioning Waterloo Road for a 1,000,000,000,000 part run. How many more times will we see endless repeats of Traffic Cops and New Tricks to save money? And what about their system of disguising repeats as new episodes!
On the other hand, ITV have been pretty poor too, especially in the factual department, with endless shite on Tuesday and Thursday's. At least they're moving in the right direction though, with Monday Night Thrillers, some quality factual journey's [Martin Clunes, Billy Connolly, and there are much more to come].
There seems to be some structure with ITV, an out with the old, in with the new system. Although I disagree with Heartbeat and The Royal being axed, as they still make perfect Sunday night television [see the Stephen Fry interview, he agrees with me about Sunday night TV], I am happy ITV have relieved the 8pm slots of The Bill.
It shows a little more imagination, and in 2010, ITV will be structurally sound, with all of their midweek football on one night, Wednesday, which is also their night for Award Ceremonies. That should take up over half the year, and ITV could just air Frost repeats for two hours, which would be poignant as it would have ended in 2009.
Also, it means ITV can make solid & clear plans on Tuesday nights without any Champions League coverage. Thursday nights will also need a clean break, as well as Friday night's at 9pm, where I can see repeats of Cold Feet airing over the Summer.
I'm all up for repeats occasionally, but lazy repeats are annoying. Taggart on ITV1 for example. That's ridiculous, and I don't know what silly and pedantic game ITV are playing with STV.
And as for BBC1, sorry, but it's true, they started the year slowly with no imagination, and it's kept going like that. No real big hitting programmes at all to speak of!
