Good but a fluke as Horne And Corden showed
Great but the third series was very disappointing.

Three decent comedies in what, 5 years really isn't that great for a broadcaster with such a rich history in the genre.

EDIT - Someone's mentioned Pulling, I won't include that due to the beeb's shocking treatment of what could have been a classic.

If that BGT Final did not pull in 40 million they may as well cancel the show.

Also, someone now HAS to pick on so you think you can dance, or a show of similar ilk.

I keep hoping ITV will pick up the rights for their summer schedule - it's funny that no UK broadcaster has snapped it up actually. I reckon it'd do quite well.

I thought living or somebody like that had the rights? I'm sure I've seen my sister watching some episodes before.

Subjective I suppose. I thought series 3 of The Mighty Boosh was great, perhaps because it was my first introduction to the show. I think if Horne & Cordon showed us anything, as was that a big part of the success of Gavin & Stacey is down to Ruth Jones.
I do remember someone saying that each decade throws up 3 or 4 really great comedies, so we haven't done too bad really.

We? I'm not criticising our country's comedy output (I think we produce some of the best comedy, it's one of the few things we do get right) simply the beeb's declining commitment to it.

There again, ITV should not get off scot free (sorry to sound like Robbie) I can't think of one truely classic comedy they've produced in 3 or 4 years.

But as you said comedy is very subjective so perhaps what's classic to me is not to another.

Anybody think the 20 million for BGT is possible?

I ask because finals of these shows do get at least a couple of million more than normal shows and BGT has been pushing 14-15 mil.

I'm just wondering if the vibes in your neck of the woods gave any indication that last night's BGT was going to be big 'event television'.
Because if so it might bump a few million floating viewers onto the usual total.

I can't help feeling that Susan Boyle would be a bigger draw than previous finalists in the previous two years.

As I understand, Simon Fuller did approach ITV with the format, but ITV feared reality TV overkill with that, The X Factor, Dancing on Ice, I'm A Celebrity..., Hell's Kitchen and Britain's Got Talent so declined. But I think ITV may have first refusal on it still.

I think I am anticipating it even more than Christmas day because I think it is the first show in a long time where it could get ratings between 14m and 19m but no one really knows, whereas most shows you can guess accurately to about 1m either side.

I couldn't work Mumbai calling out, i will watch next week to see if it finds its feet but I think without a BGT lead in it will struggle at 9:30 next week unless BBC1's Michael McIntyre(sp?) show is a turn off (I don't get the hype surrounding him, he comes across really up himself, though many seem to like him

As for Casualty it was a minute before i tuned over and the titles hadn't even started so I didn't miss anything.

The only time Robin Hood has done well this year was when it was directly up against BGT over Easter. Next week they are moving it back to 6:45 before Graham Norton Totally Saturday, methinks the powers that be want it to fail by putting it on too early.

Yeah in comparison Doctor Who is much more must watch than Robin Hood and like BGT people will stay in to watch it. However I love Robin Hood and think in some respects it is better than Doctor Who.

Yes after today its all over for ITV for 3 months. This week is awful Taggart and Doc Martin repeats, fat teens, louty ladies and cops with cameras, hardly must see TV.

I think, and hope, it will do well. BBC1 have got a documentry on the Calendar Girls (old news probably to most people), BBC2 have got a programme on self harm, ITV1 Taggart repeat,so in all honesty the only programmes that can take viewers away from it are The Mentalist and more probably Katie and Peter.

With George Sampson last year and Diversity this year, there is definitely a market for dancing shows that don't necessarily involve old style Strictly type dancing.

Yes that has always confused me, if there are 50 million adults in the UK, how come even at Christmas there never seems to be more than 30 million, and normally 25 million watching?

BBC Breakfast were mentioning 20 million viewers in a 7 minute

piece this morning talking to the fountain of all knowledge Tina Baker, one up from Richard Arnold (but that isn't difficult).

Am I looking then I turned to BGMT instead of watching Mumbai Calling, was it incredibly drab?

And with this talk about Britain's Got Talent, why oh why, has no one mentioned The FA Cup? You know, that event that should probably peak at around 8 or 9 million?
