That STV list is bizzare. For 2007, The Queen at #2? Pride of Britain Awards and National TV Awards in the top 10?

January to June 2008, Emmerdale at #3 but Corrie not anywhere in the top 10... yet the budget response is?

It does seem odd for Coronation Street to be number 1 in 2007, but not mentioned in the first 6 months of 2008.

Budget Response must have been on before something big - UEFA Cup Final? or UEFA Champions League?

I wrote to ITV to ask if they would repeat their drama premiere 'Hillsborough' on the anniversary day. It's a Wednesday, so a schedule could easily work around it:-

7:00pm Emmerdale
7:30pm Coronation Street [hour episode catching up from World Cup Qualifier]
8:30pm Hillsborough
10:00pm News at Ten

I'm sure they won't, but I thought it might be a nice idea. Being the 25th anniversary, with all the news coverage, I thought the drama might get some extra viewers, or at least it would save ITV some money.
Nice idea, but I don't think they filmed a catchup episode of Corrie due to that World Cup qualifier. Also, it won't please too many fans of The Bill, which has been on-off quite a lot in the last few months due to Wednesday night football on some weeks. 20th anniversary, by the way.

Yeah, the list does look a bit dodgy. No Corrie in the top 10 - I can't believe that! I know it's gone downhill in the last couple of years, but still... from 1st in 2007 to not even in the list, it must be a mistake.

That's one impressive share for the Uefa Cup Final (67%) by the way! I doubt the Champions League Final in the Manchester/London regions got anywhere near that share for the entire programme.

Possibly a UEFA Cup Quarter or Semi Final? The final was May, and the budget is April.

Oops, I forgot it was 20.

That's a shame about the Coronation Street thing. They could have had a good night of programming there.

I do think that The Bill has gone very stale. For example, noone can watch any catch-up episodes. I reckon an Omnibus on ITV3 on a Monday night at 10pm for example might get 100-200K maybe?

I heard it was getting awful figures for its repeats though.

Maybe The Bill could have had a 2 hour special on the Thursday, lol. I'm sure that used to happen a few years ago...I wonder how it rated.

At the moment, I feel The Bill & Trial & Retribution are dramas ITV should be axing, not Heartbeat and Wire in the Blood.

I mean, from reading that very sentence, you can see why. The Bill/Trial & Retribution are filmed in London with the other two in the North. ITV are becoming slightly more London centric. And it's a shame.

It's a shame to think - ITV used to have such an affiliation up north, stretching from Emmerdale and Corrie to other programmes like Where the Heart Is. This is slowly vanishing.

When's The Bill switching to a 9pm once-a-week slot? Hillsbrough week could be the opportunity for the move, while covering the Wednesday vacant slot.

vanishing.
I agree about axing T&R instead of Wire in the Blood, but I'm not sure about The Bill. It's just one of those shows which come instantly to mind when you think about ITV, and it would be a sad day (imo) if it got axed. I know it's not what it used to be, but from what I've heard, the show's much better now than what it was about 5 years ago when it temporarily became more like a soap.

There's no official confirmation about Heartbeat being axed. It may well continue, after it's hiatus. I firmly believe it's ITV's scheduling problems which caused Heartbeat's ratings to dip in the last year. If it had been in a solid slot for a number of weeks in a row, then it definitely would have rated better.

One thing that I applaud ITV for is that they have brought in quite a lot of new drama in the last 6 months. And most of them have turned out to be hits, some more so than others (Whitechapel, Unforgiven...). I can't really name that many new BBC1 dramas in the last 6 months. Just having a look at the current top 40 of the year to date, and there are 5 new ITV dramas in there, but 0 for BBC1... says it all really.

When's The Bill switching to a 9pm once-a-week slot?
It's not been publicly revealed, but I'm sure ITV have a good idea of when. I'd say it would be after the Champions League Final, so possibly June?

Ah, they're quite slow to update!

But yes, I remember 'The Queen' was highly rated in the whole ITV network if I'm right.

Are you mad?!??! No matter how well made a programme is, how many awards it won or how much it cost to make, the only repeats that we're (legally?) allowed on British TV these days are Taggart and New Tricks.

http://www.stvsales.tv/content/default.asp?page=s5_1_3

you might be right
looking at those ratings , am i right when i say it looks like corrie is not very popular in the STV region anymore?

Thank you for your recent email regarding HEARTBEAT.

I can confirm ITV has decided not to commission another series of the programmes in question. Episodes of Heartbeat will be on our screens until 2011.

I can confirm your details have been registered and will be available for viewing by senior management.

Regards

VIEWER SERVICES – PR

That's confirmation that the series has been axed?

I mean, the Yorkshire TV studios are gone. It's very unlikely it will return now...

^ I'd think so.

How do we expect ITV to run the BGT semi-finals week? They're going to have to take a night out for the Champions League final on the Wednesday. So they could either start the semi-finals on a Sunday and finish the next Saturday. Or else start on the Monday and finish the next Sunday.

It's pretty much confirmed for the final week of May. Escala release an album on May 25th and Paul Potts releases on June 1st. I'm guessing Escala will be on the first semi-final and Potts will be on the finale. Cowell will have co-ordinated the releases to appearances on the live shows.

I hope that happens, though I think on Hillsborough ITV are showing football. And with Man City in the latter stages, I wouldn't be surprised if the UEFA Cup was shown on ITV1.

It would have been nice to have a football themed week on ITV for once, saving up some programmes for Hillsborough week, as it's a big week for sport too. Here's one of my relentless (& probably the most unrealistic) fantasy schedules:-

Monday
8:00pm Tonight [a football themed edition of the current affairs show]

Tuesday
7:30pm Champions League Live (Man Utd v Porto)

Wednesday
7:30pm Coronation Street
8:30pm Hillsborough

Thursday
7:30pm UEFA Cup Live [Man City v Hamburg]

Friday
9:00pm Clough [loads of publicity at the moment, and loads of oldies that remember him stay in on a Friday whilst 16-34year olds are out partying]

Saturday
FA Cup Semi-Finals

Sunday
FA Cup Semi-Finals

With all the sport ITV have on this week, it's a perfect opportunity to make it sport themed, which might prop up the audience, and will do wonders for ITV's ailing reputation with sport (perhaps?)

Is it just me that thinks having the Hillsborough drama part of a 'sport-themed' week would be a tad inappropriate?

Looking forward to the Dancing on Ice ratings and Lewis ratings.

I think the former might be down this year due to the winner being quite predictable.

I think Lewis might hit 7/8m maybe? In any case, ITV should have a good 30/35+ share for the evening, still probably equaling a sub-20% share for daytime.

Is that all? I'd expected it to do rather better than that considering its lead-in.
