Thanks - I didn't realise that they both swapped, as the blurb seems to be all about the male character.

Freeman and Stirling are very good and it could be fun, but in ratings terms, ITV audiences don't seem to be that tolerant of anything quirky at the moment. Anyone know if this has only just been made or if ITV have been saving it for a while? I wondered, with all the cutbacks, if we'd start seeing some of the dramas ITV have been sitting on for ages.

Good rating for EastEnders on Friday night.

Emmerdale still just about staying over the 6m mark.

But the share is solid which is at least commendable. I think it's good that shows on ITV such as this and Heartbeat has a loyal audience of about 5 million viewers, who have probably been watching the show for ages. Evolution is important, but shows like these need to be kept alive without disturbing the loyal audience. Lots of small & methodical changes are much better in consolidating a channel's ratings in the short run whilst securing a future. ITV was Thatcherised. And it has put the roots and entire meaning of ITV under such commercial pressure that it has made radical changes which makes it impossible to build carefully. Attempts have been made, but in the face of sheer short sighted greed, they have failed.

That rather 'hits the nail on the head' of my sympathy towards ITV. And I hope one day, ITV are given support and return in some way to their unique, regional system. It not only challenged the BBC, ITV's initial purpose, but split the choice of programming to such an extent that massive numbers were watching both broadcasters.

Traditionalist or not, I believe the consolidation of ITV is vital for stopping a BBC monopoly for viewing figures.

My Emmerdale comment was a compliment. It could easily have fallen under 6m last week, after the clocks went forward.

7pm.... and still no ratings. (if only we, the Great British Public had a full two-day weekend without no work. )

We might not get ratings today because DS have that 'Digital Spy Reality Awards' tomorrow so the editor might be too busy at the moment to write the ratings reports.

Poor figures all round really, nothing that stands out apart from EE. ITV last in the 9pm slot, and Channel 4 also did poorly in the 8pm slot.

Poor for ITV1 in the 9pm hour. The Real Swiss Family Robinson dropped as I expected on BBC1. Less than 5m between BBC1 and ITV1 in the 9pm hour... is that some kind of low record- it's awful !

Well done to Five, which performed very well for NCIS.

Yeh, it must be a record. Dreadful all round at 9pm, except NCIS. Ramsay is doing OK but is well down on previous runs. His Cookalong struggled before Christmas, too, is his popularity waning? I hope not, although I'm not a fan of Nightmares USA, are they making any more British ones?

I'd imagine that the Doc Martin repeat will win the Friday 9pm slot next week. Good to see BBC1 and ITV1 making an effort for Good Friday.

It's looking bad for both Robin Hood and Primeval - both just above the 4m mark . Colour of Money continues to lose its audience... now just 2.5m. Awful primetime share for ITV1; they're probably very relieved that BGT is coming back next week.

Hole in the Wall repeay just 0.2m behind what ITV were hoping would be their next big International hit .

I will be absolutely amazed if ITV's all-day share is not under 10 percent considering BBC One had the Grand National and F1. Absolutely horrific.

For a side to side F1 Malaysia comparision with 2008, click here

..and that is bad for Primeval and Robin Hood.... I can't say "clashing audiences" as an excuse, because they only clashed for 15 minutes. They are going to get killed next week, Primeval by Doctor Who and Robin Hood by BGT.

Good lord, where was everyone last night?! Only Five and BBC One (after 8) had respectable ratings.

Dreadful for Robin Hood and Primeval. The weather clearly took its toll, and I dread to think what will happen to Primeval next week. Hopefully after next week it'll move back to after 7pm and air against Barrowman. Series 4 is not looking likely - a real shame.

Harry Hill ended on a low note, and ITV had nothing over 5m. Awful for them.

Bad night for ITV and quite low all round
Awful for Robin Hood and Primeval, but after next week Primeval should increase with BGT in the ITV schedule

Oh dear that looks very poor for Robin Hood and Primeval. Doctor Who could do very well next Saturday. Also I wonder if The Grand National would have topped the day if BBC1 broadcast it separately from the rest of the racing coverage like they used to?

Robin Hood won on share but lost on raw figures so it's swings and roundabouts. I thought it started too early though but I believe it's moving back to a more sensible time next week. Primeval is on even earlier next week though and with a partially clash with DW it could be in real trouble.

I'm not so sure next week it's up against Doctor Who.

EastEnders continued to do well on Friday, but Corrie was extremely low. It usually manages to hit 10 million or near that figure on Fridays. What's happened??

Saturday was also a bad day for ratings. The weather was nice, so it probably had an effect on viewing figures. Primeval and Robin Hood both underperformed - very poor for primetime, with Casualty only staying reliable with a good figure.

Ouch, ouch and DOUBLE ouch!

If the ratings get any worse for Primeval, I can't see a new series being commissioned.

I expect Primeval's ratings to take a whack next week when it clashes with Doctor Who on BBC1. Not good news for ITV1 at the moment as far as saturdays are concerned. BGT can only come quickly enough for them.

Does anyone know how the films did on ITV1 over the weekend.

They always put a couple of films on each day during the weekend but can never find any ratings for any of them.

NCIS does get good ratings for both new episodes and repeats, Five should promote it more but I guess that because FX currently have first run rights, they don't want to but I imagine it would get similar ratings to the CSI repeats if it was on Five USA.
