Is that all? I'd expected it to do rather better than that considering its lead-in.
Lewis - 2008 Series Ep 1 - 24/02 - 8,014,000 (35.40%) Ep 2 - 01/03 - 7,732,000 (35.03%) Ep 3 - 08/03 - 7,451,000 (32.90%) Ep 4 - 16/03 - 7,959,000 (34.50%) Lewis - 2009 Series Ep 1 - 22/03 - 6,700,000 (30.00%) A considerable drop... and I expect it to decrease further next week with no DOI lead in. |

Yeah, I was expecting 8 million + for Lewis. DOI final did well though.

The problem with 2 hour dramas starting at 9pm is that the 11pm finish is too late for many people who have an early start on Mondays.

Not so good for No. 1 Ladies.
Lewis really needs to be in the 7ms at least to justify the cost. Dancing on Ice costs £5m a year and Lewis must be approaching £2m an episode, given that Kevin Whately says it is "expensive" and that a normal 2 hour drama would cost £1.3-1.5m. How does Dancing on Ice compare to last year? |

Chris Moyles Quiz Night starts with 1.38m. That is dissapointing. I expected about 2m.

I'm surprised at the drop in audience when Lewis started..I wonder if that was due to it not being screened in Scotland..but would that have any real effect in its total ratings?
Lewis is one of ITV's quality shows too..god know why Scotland would want to drop that?! |

Predictably strong ratings for the Dancing on Ice finale - if a little down on last year. I too, expected Lewis to perform a tad better given past performances, but its still a perfectly strong performance.
BBC One crumbled pretty badly, which you don't often see. People finally wise up to the fact that AR is a repeat, and No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency gets crunched by a much more established drama on the other side. Its great to see Yellowstone performing well on BBC Two. Watched it on iPlayer last night and it was spectacular and the good ratings are very well deserved. Chris Moyles made another very underwhelming TV debut I see. It seems the younger audience he was after went missing somewhere. I don't suppose they were watching Lewis, but perhaps they were lost on multichannel. |

For a final the DOI figure at face value seems less than spectacular, although the final figures may be very different for various reasons. Havent noticed quite the same amount of buzz this year around DOI-the obvious choice winning maybe didnt help.
The figures all round seem rather depressed with BBC1 caving in for the first time this year on a Sunday. However I cant blame them for not investing much into the evening given a rare reality big top night on the other side. I do feel a bit sorry for No1 LDA, which is effectively transporting Hetty Wainthrop abroad. Its rather lost in its slot at the moment. I dont think the acting is bad, its Botswana not Surrey. I do like the secretary, her very deliberate almost scornful delivery makes me chuckle. |

Lewis debuted with 11 million plus if I remember rightly. Huge as it was it was in response to peoples memories of Morse. I think the drops in Lewis figures are to a certain extent down to the fact that Lewis is Lewis and not Morse.

Perhaps having such a clear favourite damaged DOI? It's past few weeks had been strong, making up for some poor early ratings in the skate-off and the series averages were neck and neck. Still good figures, but definitely less than I expected. Same goes for Lewis. Still, it walked all over BBC1 which had a very rough night.
Not sure how Lewis will do at 8pm and I could see Piers Morgan dropping under 4m with a week off and a different lead-in. I really don't know why they didn't just start Piers series 2 weeks earlier. |

Yellowstone was fantastic last night. Great to see it nearly beat the Antiques Roadshow.

Maybe we should factor in the STV situation to Lewis' ratings, although I agree that it's not clear how many more people will have watched it if it had aired in Scotland.
DOI down which is a shame, but the final was very predictable so I have no doubt that was a reason why less people tuned in. No tension when it's a foregone conclusion (even though the guests on This Morning were trying to make out it was a final that had everything - including unpredictability...yeah right). |

I think Lewis may need to do better than that if it wants to be recommissioned. Kevin already said they were uncertain about coming back due to the cost.
Yellowstone must be getting very healthy totally ratings if you factor in its repeat on Monday night in a decent enough slot (7pm BBC2). |
