HITW and TW are shows that had they aired on other stations would have done poor in the ratings.

The problem with the BBC is that they seem to have certain presenters that they desperately try to shoe horn into as many programmes as possible. How many flops has Graham Norton presented since his high profile move to the BBC, The bigger picture, the One and Only, the recent eurovision show, and arguably his BBC2 chat show which gets similar ratings to E4 and BBC3. The only success that comes to mind is the ALW shows.

Now ITV also have the same problem with Ant & Dec and Piers Morgan springing to mind but the concept of the shows are better. Also personally any programme with the title total(ly) is an immediate turnoff.

BBC have a strong Saturday schedule without the need for total rubbish. I can see the point of TW as it is a good filler ideal for the Summer Months where there is no point showing expensive dramas. For the rest of the year they can have Family Drama, Lottery Quiz, Casualty and Reality Show or Comedy to choose from.

The BBC should bring back 'The Murder Game' to Saturday nights, to show after Casualty if it isn't too expensive to make. How well did it do last time round?

I think Primeval could see an improvement tonight, because in my humble opinion the Barrowman show is far worse than I had anticipated. (and I had expected it to be bad)

It has that weird talk down to the audience BBC tone of "we know this is crap but we are trying to dress is up as educational". BBC and shiny flloor shows just dont go together.

I just dont get tv commissioners. Doesn't common sense just tell you that The John Barrowman show would be crap? Why do they bother?

And its not just the BBC - Rock Rivals, Britannia High - they just screamed crap from the moment they were announced.

Admittedly I can't comment for the whole show, but the first part with McFly was woeful. How they'll drag it out to 6 hours is anyones guess!

But I've got a horrible feeling that it will find a decent audience. It shouldn't but it might. When the BBC launches one of these shows and it looks too awful to be real, they end up getting OK ratings.

It went downhill from McFly, we've had cossack dancers, singing accountants and now waitresses. I think this will bomb. - Well it deserves to at any rate

BGT have craftily dont a late edit with Ant & Dec in a red box to follow up on the Susan Boyle publicity.

She's become a sensation in America being interviewed on Today and mentioned on numerous shows. You can't buy publicity like that.

..........and yet the Singing Waitresses and the Accountants could very easily turn up on Britains Got Talent in front of 10 million people. Tonights the Night isnt the greatest LE show by any means but its certainly not as dire as people are making out. Id love to know what peoples idea is of a first rate Light Entertainment show would be.(not reality). If so-can they write to the BBC, or come to that matter, ITV, it would maybe put alot of people out of their misery.

Anyway, BGT wasn't quite as good as last week. It was less heavy on talent and more on the funny ones. Last kid was very good, totally contrived, but very good. Of course, DS forums will miss the point and moan about the scripting as though it's the end of the world!

Next week has Kelly Brook in it.

Shame you missed his first song C14E, still there's always next week The show reminded me in parts of the ITV show that Phillip Schofield did where he made peoples dreams come true- the one that bombed and was dropped after about 2 weeks.


I agree that BGT wasn't as good as last week, but the hour flew by and it was entertaining. I think the kid part was staged too, but it made for good viewing. Looking forward to seeing the Kelly Brook debace next week

Yeah, BGT wasn't as good as last week, but it was still great fun. Next week will be interesting with Kelly Brook. They've scheduled it perfectly, as episode 3 is when the ratings started to drop last year, so by saving her until then, they'll keep interest levels up for longer.

I hope Primeval does well as it was excellent tonight. I switched over to Barrowman in the ad-breaks, and I have never seen anything worse on television in my life. Utterly atrocious in every sense. I hope it flops badly (like it would on any other channel), but I bet it'll get 4-5m.

Utterly atrocious in every sense sums it up nicely IMHO. I hope it flops too and although it's on BBC and therefor will probably get better ratings than it would anywhere else, I can still anticipate people switching it off in their droves. *crosses fingers*
