But last series' figures were quite poor in the first place. I honestly think ITV were expecting higher than 3.5m for Thursday's episode against weak competition.

Wonder if this will return in the same slot or be moved to 9pm on another day. 12 episodes is about how long Dancing on Ice is, so it would tie in nicely with that.

I think there's a very good probability of tonight's BGT getting higher than last week's 10.5m because of the increased press coverage. I'm thinking a peak of over 12m.

What you're saying, though, is not as bad as that ITV press statement they released recently saying that "Ladette to Lady was a success as 13m adults AND 8m women viewers" watched it across 8 weeks. Didn't know women were different from adults. And they've just added all the ratings up per week, when each episode was getting about 2-3m

I dont think its anyway similar at all. I think there is no question that it will go over 100m views in the next week. I suppose its all one person (paid by Simon Cowell probably) or maybe You Tube are being paid to concoct the figures. Maybe Barb are in on it to..... probably using the company that faked the moon landings...

Yes I can, although I must say that Hole In The Wall, Who Dares Sings, Baby Ballroom, Love Island, DanceX and Celebrity Wrestling do run it close.
If Primeval gets beaten by Tonight's the Night I guess that'll be the end for family drama. We'll have cheap entertainment shows taking up most of the slots for some time to come.
I dont know why people feel Primeval is the last bastion of family drama.
ITV knows that family drama works - they see Doctor Who, Merlin, Robin Hood.
They've only really tried Primeval, Demons and Britannia High and they must realise that they really aren't to the same standard.

They see Family drama working on BBC1. That doesn't mean it'll work for them. Turning it the other way - look at Pop Idol and Fame Academy: the former worked well on ITV but the latter, a basic rip off, failed even with the Comic Releif tag.
Channels have a stereotypical role in many people's minds, IMO. BBC1 is family orientated with dramas/family shows; BBC2 is aimed at the older and cult demographic; ITV1 reality TV, soaps and crime drama; Channel 4 cutting edge TV (hah!) and Five American shows and documentaries. Stereotypes are never 100% accurate, but that's the general idea.
When the channels try to break the stereotype they invariably fail. BBC1's reality TV shows have generally flopped bar Strictly Come Dancing and the first series of Survivor (I guess the Andrew Lloyd Webber shows do ok). ITV1's family dramas have not been big hitters. When Five tried home grown drama - a remake of Minder - it struggled.
In this economic climate the question is how long will commercial channels especially risk moving away from their stereotypically successful routes? ITV are churning out more crime drama while ditching the family serials of Heartbeat and The Royal; Five are creating more and more documenatries; BBC1 are attempting a couple more family dramas, one involving pirates (can't remember the other) while taking other family shows off BBC2.
So if Primeval fails tonight against Tonight's the Night, I think ITV's attempts at family drama may take a back seat for a while. BBC1 won't - they have no need. But I think they may lack much opposition in that genre for some time to come.

I actually quite liked Merlin.
I hope that Primeval does well tonight because for the first time this year I watched because I enjoyed it instead of watching it in the hope that it was going to get better.
I think tomorrow evening, or maybe before, we might all be surprised by Britain's Got Talent standards by the ratings its going to bring in, such is the unbelievable public interest in the star of Susan Boyle.

I think Coronation Street repeats should be scheduled at 11pm every night it airs on ITV1, and there should be a guarenteed 3-5% share at that point every night, which is a bonus.
Onto the other ratings, EastEnders is down on the last couple of weeks, but none of the soaps are really pulling in the same numbers as last year, especially Corrie, which always stayed above 9 million regularly until June/July, I thought.
But there is good weather keeping people out till later. You can see that by the ratings for Monday's 7:30/8:30 episodes.
As for shares, Corrie is suffering, but I think a 35% share is very good for Emmerdale.

Not too bad of a start for TTN, only narrowly beating Primeval, which is back up this week to an ok level, but it deserved more as it was a very good episode. Great rating for Hells Kitchen, seems to have benifited from BGT (unlike the colour of Money!)
Robin Hood and Primeval both seem unsure of thier ratings this year! Up and down they seem to be, but hopefully both will get a 4th series, as neither of them are rating too badly.
