Was that supposed to be a Sykes-esque parody of one of my Cowell piss-takes?

You've got work to do, old bean...

Hm, I'm not enthused by it on the evidence of eps 1 and 2.

I'm a big fan of Life on Mars, and enjoyed s1 of A2A as a coda to that series. But this just seems like a watered-down remake, as if ITV had bought the rights 10 years on and tried to capture the magic of the original.

They prefer to watch on YouTube by about 10 to 1....

Just shows how far ITV has fallen that 2 weeks of 4m average ratings in the 9pm slot is seen as a good thing!

How did Celebrity Love Island do - wasn't that canned for only getting 3-4m? Maybe they should bring it back - got to be better than When Teen Boob Jobs Go Wrong and shows of similar quality?

Quite.”

Completely agree with you. The vast amount of coverage which the BBC did of the Olympics was stupendous, especially via the red button. I think they'll be severely disappointed that they didn't get the prize.

I'm also kinda surprised that ITV got the F1 prize as well. I know they've won it the last couple of years, but if it goes on the pre and post race coverage, I much prefer the BBC's this year. ITV's used to go on foreverrrrrrrr, with Steve Rider putting people to sleep. Good move by BBC1 putting Jake Humphreys in place - seems to know his stuff and have a passion for the sport. I suppose it's not too bad jetting round the world every couple of weeks either

It's what's technically known as a consolation prize...

I knew it would happen eventually but I didn't think they would do it this week. I guess FOX were tired of the premptions of Lie to Me.”

I'm kinda surprised that they did it for Lie To Me. It's a pretty big deal after all and Lie To Me isn't such a big deal.

Though this conference seems remarkably trivial, apparently to mark 100 days in office.

2 weeks of 4m on BBC1 would be seen as a good thing.

Hell’s Kitchen Final (Mon) - 5.2m (21%)

Overnight series average will be 4.0/4.1m depending on how the 8pm show fared last night.

It's slightly up from the 2007 overnight series average of: 3.8m.

Quite a fall for Ashes to Ashes.

Please can people report what the news bulletins got lost night. I suspect they may have some abnormally high ratings, and will do for the next week or so

Thanks

8pm Hell’s Kitchen Final 3.4m (15%) better than some of the 9pm shows. Makes you think that ITV could make better use of the 8pm slots. Maybe there will be a change when The Bill moves to 9pm of the full weeks running order at 8pm. I think they should move Tonight as well. Perhaps to 10.35 or make it a 1 hour show on Tuesday nights. Although possibly the Ofcom ad rules favour it staying where it is - such are the constraints on ITV scheduling.

Some more ratings:

BBC2
8pm Wainright Walks 2.1m (9%)
8.30pm Nigella Express 1.9m (7.9%)
9pm Heroes 1.1m (4.5%)

Ch4
8pm Dispatches 1.3m (5.6%) for Crash: How Long Will it Last? C4+1: 80,000
9pm Henry VIII: Mind of a Tyrant 1.7m (7%) C4+1: 119,000

Five
8pm The Gadget Show's Big Experiment 1.2m (4.9%)
9pm Extreme Fishing with Robson Green 1.1m (4.3%)

So the overnight series average for the series is: 4.1m (17.5%) based on MG's figures.

That's ok I guess- not the great, but not bad either. Probably does well in the 16-34 demo also. Maybe it'll be back next year with a new chef?

It was a cold night in Australia which may have contributed. Plus Ten had a huge night lined up with the launch of MasterChef and TBL wrapping up, looks like some just stuck with Ten all night.

It's believed that is the highest rating for Neighbours for at least 2 years.

Hell's Kitchen at 8pm was changed on the EPG to "The Story So Far" and contained no new material at all.

I dont think it should be included in the average personally. It was a recap show, basically a repeat.

I think it will be back next year with the same chef. I dont believe tabloid gossip about Marco apparently saying he wants to quit. So does Simon Cowell if we believe the tabloids - as if.

Ah right. Average would still be 4.1m without that episode.

Soaps didn't do brilliantly last night, down into the 8 millions, with Corrie taking a blow below 40% for both of its episodes.

Was it on at the same time as Hell's Kitchen?

Because that would have been the worst error in the history of British broadcasting.

poor for ashes to ashes, I know Hells Kitchen was stronger this week and it'll have good recording/iplayer figures...but its the BBC's flagship show at the moment and a million drop off is concerning after what I felt was one of ashes to ashes better episodes last week.

It started at 10pm just after HK ended. Cunning or what!!

Benidorm moving to a 7 x 1 hour format must mean 6 Friday nights of ITV wins in the 9pm slot
